Starts out OK with nose a little pungent, some fruit, no better and no worse than some other Glendronachs at cask strength. But the initial taste falls flat and the aftertaste has what I call sulfur that is a complete turnoff for me.

Tasted near end of bottle 2025. No sulfur, but no improvement in taste either. In terms of color and taste, may have used the "finest Pedro Ximinez and oloroso sherry casks " but I'm sure none were 1st or even 2nd use. Probably didn't pay much for it, but worth every penny. But compared to the latest version "sherry cask matured " bought at Costco on sale for $36, this one is a clear winner! Simple. Color and taste consistent with "newer" casks. Good aftertaste. No sulfur!

NoseSherry monster indeed! Its influence is very prevalent and besides a hint of malted barley, it’s sherry all day.
PalateThe first sip is really smooth and as an experienced taster once told
me, it takes many sips to adequately judge a whisky so let’s continue
on. Big syrupy sherry flavors that remind me of cola without the
carbonation. I may be picking up on hints of canned cherries but that
could be a reach. Not much complexity but still tasty.
With WaterThe nose is more prevalent and has a bigger punch. However, the
palate gains a bit of spiciness and finish is more subdued. Definitely
    better without water.
FinishVery pleasant and consistent with the nose and palate. Again, syrupy
cola that stays on the top of the tongue. I like how it doesn’t get
bitter at the end like some whiskies do.
What I thinkToo bad there is not much complexity here. If there were, this whisky
would intrigue me a bit more. Having said that, the price is great for
what you get. Worth every penny.
