I had this malt once before in the glass in 2015 and found it rather unspectacular at the time. Today, however, I feel this bottling as extremely delicious and interesting. Sweetness and fruit, wood and earth, peat and smoke, leather and tobacco, the flavors change every second, just wonderful!

    • Nose
      90 90
Orange with a rusty shine, the Springbank shimmers in the glass, oily and greasy streaks stick to the glass wall of my Premium Snifter. Discreetly, peaty smoke rises from the glass, mineral earth tones emerge, dried grapes and berries end in a hint of lemon and other citrus fruits. The alcohol is beautifully harmoniously integrated, caramelized sugar and hints of dried liquorice gradually stimulate the salivation. A soft sea breeze comes up, sweetness is slightly salty in the air, the nose is absolutely not overloaded and shows off its filigree and delicate side.
    • Taste
      90 90
Tart grapes and berries flatter the tongue, sweetness flashes, mineral earth tones gently rest on the palate. Suddenly, wood sharpness arises, pepper and salt dance on the tongue and gently massage the lips. Gently flows the second sip through the mouth, minimal peat and smoke, sweet raisins and caramel merge before abruptly pepper and salt in the entire mouth spread. Citrus fruits play with licorice, grapes combine with cane sugar and caramel, and little by little tobacco notes and a hint of leather emerge. Dried wood tones and earthy loam on, the mouthfeel becomes oily and greasy, cedar wood sticks to the palate.
    • Finish
      90 90
The oily and greasy film still sticks to the palate, old leather and dried tobacco leaves stick to the tongue. The aftertaste is rather unspectacular if it were not for this strange but extremely tasty mixture of leather, tobacco, dried berries and dry wood tones.
