[March, 2022] Another sample... from one of the myriads of single cask Glendronach bottlings of the last decade. Most of them were excellent...

...and this is another one. The nose is truly great, but the texture and finish are a little weak-ish compared to it. This was okay stuff at its original release price of around 120 bucks but I would not buy a bottle at today's prices.
    • Nose
      90 90
The colour is russetmuscat and the nose offers a flawless PX sherry profile which leaves enough space for the fine Glendronach malt to shine through. All aromas of the holy whisky trinity of malt, wood and wine are there, and all in good balance. Very nice to sniff without any off-note and there is not a single sulphur molecule, I swear.
    • Taste
      89 89
The taste is more driven by the sherry flavours but after some chewing the malt shows up, too. The wood is about perfect to provide a firm backbone to all other flavours but does not overpower what I like. All is very intermingled so it is hard to name single flavour impressions - but you know anyway what to expect from a sherried Glendronach, don't you?
    • Finish
      87 87
The initial mouthfeel is hot-peppery and somewhat coating but to be honest: I expected a better texture. Hence the finish is of medium length only without adding any new (positive or negative) impressions. Some water turns the nose punchier and the taste flatter and a bigger splash flattens both (but it gets more quaffable this way). I prefer the neat dram.
