Once again, Benromach amazes us. This young and fiery single cask of 8 years surprises with its maturity, its complexity, its balance. A nice selection from the Whisky House. Some say that 100 € for an 8 year old whisky is expensive. I would rather say that 100 € for an excellent whisky, by the times, it is a bargain.
    • Nose
clean, straight and generous. It changes the classic range that is fatter I think. Here we are on something more sharp, sharper, more cutting edge. It starts with roasted cereal notes, embellished with dark chocolate, hazelnuts and almonds. On top, a hint of candied citrus, pear, with some mint leaves and vanilla pods. That was the dessert ... It's like that at Benromach, we start with the end! Then we have a more salty pan, with notes of olives, anchovies all in a fine and delicate smoke, tinged with ashes. To finish, it's on spices that this 8-year-old Benromach for LMDW takes us, with classic things like cinnamon, but also more original, like turmeric and ginger. Nice trip
    • Taste
powerful and just as generous as the nose. The sharp side of the nose is expressed in the mouth by an exceptional precision of the aromas. The smoked aspect is here more present. Ash notes are important, as are roasted cereals. It is also more vegetal than the nose, revealing fruit not quite ripe. On the other hand, we find a nice freshness mentholée, the acidity of the lime, the enchanting perfume of licorice and the passion of ginger and salt. And then, there is this marker of modern Benromach, a kind of rubbery note that further complicates whisky. Superb.
    • Finish
it's fresh, it's long, it's good. We still have notes of lemon ash, olives and ginger in the mouth, and it lasts about ten minutes ... I am conquered!
