The Whisky Fair generally selects its casks well. This Laphroaig is no exception to the rule. A large whisky, rich, with a persistent aromatic to make blush most casks raw ... A whisky for lovers of raw peat, fine, sharp.
    • Nose
a peat is immediately in the foreground. A rich peat, which oscillates between organic notes, such as earth, humus or seaweed, and more meaty notes, with bacon and grilled meat. The sherry brings are lots of aromas. Varnish, notes of precious wood, and then, a beautiful basket of fruits! Prunes, dates, apricots, peaches, and with the opening, things a little more exotic, like mango. And then, as if that was not enough, we get lost in the freshness of eucalyptus, mint and licorice.
    • Taste
despite the reduction, this Laphroaig retains a nice power. We begin with obvious notes of Provence herbs, thyme, cold ashes, a wood fire at the edge of the beach, with salty spray. We close our eyes, we're on Islay. The whole is quite dry, we do not find at all the sweet side present on some Laphroaig traffic jams. Here it is clear, precise, incisive. The typical medicinal side of Laphroaig is there, with some smoked fish, and with the opening, some dried fruits like prune and apricot. The aromatic field is not very wide, but all this is so well put together, that the goal is reached: fun!
    • Finish
Endless on the ashes, the herbs of Provence, the eucalyptus, the burnt wood. It is delicious.
