The nose is great, but the palate is quite hard work.

Fill level was low shoulder. Notable sediment.

Musty, nutty, deeply oaked sherry opening. A big plum note then takes centre stage, rounded and lush, with blond tobacco. Increasingly chalky with more than a hint of smoke, melting plastic, baked apple and cinnamon. Millionaire's shortbread, demerara sugar and a little cleaning fluid. Lots of complexity and decent power - well-kept old furniture and Turkish coffee.

Quite a tart attack, but pleasantly so - feels like it was bottled just in time. It's really rather sharp, but in a minty, not a drying way. The tannins bring a taut, tense feel. Perhaps it was left a little too long, flashes of deep fruitiness are quickly stifled by the oak.
    • Finish

Long, oak spices, mellow and dignified, biscuity.
