    A GD from the bourbon barrel - very interesting to get to know the actual character of the distillery, which is otherwise covered by the fat sherry boards
    • Nose
      87 87
      fruity malt sweetness, bread crust, fully ripe apricots, marzipan, rose water, mirabelle plums, vanilla and cedarwood, litchi
    • Taste
      86 86
      Fresh mirabelle plums, bread dough, apple mint, ripe pears - reminiscent of the freshness of a good fine fruit brandy
    • Finish
      86 86
      medium length with many fruits from the orchard meadow

    if that is the distillate character of Glendronach I wish for more bottlings "au naturel". Enormously fresh, great finish.
    • Nose
      Pur: You have to say in advance, these are the last sips from the bottle, in the beginning he has not tasted so much. Now a lot of floral, honey, some caramel and pear and fresh tangerine, the flower meadow lies above. Delicious! With water: even more flowery and fruity, now looks older and more mature.
    • Taste
      Pure: astonishingly mild, enormously fresh onset, followed by some white pepper. Then dense fruit compote from apricot, ripe apples with a shot Willi. Then he gets fresh as in the nose. With water: creamy, sweeter. Creme Brulee, slightly spicy wood notes.

      long, freshly chewed mint leaves! Enormously minty and fresh behind.

    Easy drinking; a bit one dimensional
    • Nose
      Sugary, pastry, lemon, clementine, melon skin, powdered sugar;
      with water: tempered, a bit cheesy, vanilla
    • Taste
      Very zesty, quite peppery, gets juicier, orange juice, a hint of burned dough;
      with water: still zesty, a bit of ginger
    • Finish
      lemony, lemon cake, some chocolate;
      with water: chocolatier, caramel

    Diesen Malt habe ich nun bei verschiedenen Gelegenheit, unter verschiedenen Vorraussetzungen probiert...und er ist wirklich beeindruckend. Diese Kombination aus "fruchtig-süß" und "würzig" macht aus ihm einen perfekten Begleiter auch für die wärmeren Tage. In der Nase dominiert eindeutig die fruchtige Süße...am Gaumen kommt dann aber die zarte aber dennoch markante Fasswürze durch. Toller, toller Malt...

    Glendronach without her typically sherry casks.
    • Nose
      All kind of sweetness; vanilla,strawberry,caramel candy , lemon ice-cream/sherbet. Candy gummy bears, toffee and cocos notes found. Almonds and brown sugar.  Complex.
    • Taste
      Lovely. Start : hot chilly notes, menthol,ice -pepper-mint, again strawberries. Added some water: more sweetness: white choco,gingerbread, tropical fruits . Complex.
    • Finish
      Middlelong-long. Complex in his sweetness. A all year round whisky. Indeed a mouthwatering  experience.

    N: Vanilla, strawberry-flavoured candy-cigarettes,.. and plenty more bourbon traits.
    T: Nice mouthfeel.
    F: Sugary cream, a bit saccharin, plank-y wood, milky tea.
    C: Basic, tasty, sweet, easy. As good as they are, its refreshing to try a straight bourbon Glendronach without those huge sherry casks from the officials dominating.Scores a C

    SMWS tasting notes:

    Plenty of ‘suckie sweets’ on the nose neat; caramel candy, chalky fizzy lemon sherbet, sugar coated gummy bears and toffee chews loaded with coconut, almonds and brown sugar. The taste initially a chilli heat moving swiftly on to menthol cooling iced peppermint tea and in the finish fresh strawberries with mint whipped cream. Water released a deeper sweetness of honey and nut cluster muesli, white chocolate cheesecake and a mild white pepper powder. On the palate now gingerbread pudding with salted caramel sauce as well as tropical fruit salad in a mint and passion fruit syrup making this a mouth-watering experience.
