    Notes from a blind tasting:

For me a "typical" representative of the sherry malts. A bit closed at first, but it can definitely convince.
    • Nose
Slightly malty, fruity. Cherries, figs and raisins. Sandalwood accompanied by coffee and roasted aromas. A light note of lavender and dried herbs.
    • Taste
Creamy and "vinous". Dark grapes, oranges and currants. Again, coffee and roasted aromas, walnuts. A slight sulfur note in the background.
    • Finish
Getting drier. Orange and white coffee accompanied by oak aromas.

Great nose. Dryness on palate was a bit odd but not unpleasant. Thanks alectron for the sample!
    • Nose
Almond oil, flinty, faint smoke. Water brings out waxiness and more smoke. Very nice.
    • Taste
Quite spicy and dry. slightly musty? With water some fruitiness - artificial cherry.
    • Finish
Quite long, dry and spicy again. Nice green/herbal notes after a while.

  4. alectron scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
a bit faint. Tobacco (cigarette) +/o, green grapes o, butan gas o/-, distant smoke/ash (burnt [news]paper) o/-, eggs (not rotten, but fresh/liquid) o/-, wet chalk o/-, freshly caught trout (not fishy) -. (86)

Later: sherry becomes a bit more detectable, also more malty at the same time, floral/artificial sweet (84)

W water: sweeter (most of the weird savoury notes above are gone), a bit more sherry/chocolat-y +/o, mint +/o, some cellulose o (paper/cardboard), (82)
    • Taste
      alcoholic spicy/hot, flour-y vanilla +/o, warm apple-mash o, (83)

      W Water: less flour-y, more malt & sherry, (84)
    • Finish
quite sweet & syrupy. Again flour / starch & vanilla, fruits, quite a lot of them but ester-y/artificial, with a dark malt note, caramelized onions and some wood (84)

W Water: slightly sweeter but less artificial, more balanced but also less unique. More pleasant & in expected territory now. (85)
