[December, 2017]  Another find in a dark corner of my cellar that was never reviewed or scored so far - so I am very curious about this old bottling.  I bought bottle no. 120 for 60 Euro in February, 2005.

Glen Elgin usually offers a nice fruity profile and this dram greatly proves this legacy. This is a very exemplary Glen Elgin dram that shows the best of this distillery's profile.  I really like it, and it is dangerously quaffable.  A fine Speyside whisky, for sure...
    • Nose
      90 90
The nose is all about a home-grown fruit salad with a honey-vanilla topping. Some spices pep it up additionally as do the shy herbs and floral notes in the background.
    • Taste
      89 89
The taste is again fruity sweet with spices and herbs in a firm wooden framework. Some water releases more aromas in the nose and smoothes the taste, actually I like the dram best when reduced to about 46% abv.
    • Finish
      88 88
The whisky arrives warming and coating in the mouth with just minor peppery moments. The finish is of medium length and adds no new impressions (but no distracting notes either!).
