Dark and intense, voluminous and smooth, PX sherry at its best! Again I had one of the many dark Glenrothes (drowned in sherry) in the glass. Was it even a Glenrothes? I have no idea, the distillery character was certainly not much to be felt here, but a lot of the wonderful PX sherry! I love these dark and intense sherry lorries, just wonderful ...
    • Nose
Cloudy copper shimmers reddish in the Premium Snifter, immediately after swiveling a thick and oily streak forms on the glass wall from which a multitude of viscous "legs" loosen. Creamy roasted aromas and dark, dried fruits rise, hazelnuts and meadow herbs follow, lovage and raisins, chocolate and "dirty" PX sweetness massively stimulate the saliva. Wet and sweet tobacco leaves, raspberries and strawberries marinated in rum, creamy toffee and caramel, hints of sour cherries and leather, herbs and spices, the nose is extremely multi-layered and complex. Balsamic and a minimal orange aroma flash, the sweet note of the PX sherry dominates the nose all the time, slight hints of subtle must and must come to the fore.
    • Taste
Sweetness flashes before sour fruit flavors flow through the palate with a load of gunpowder and immediately leave a subtle spiciness in the form of white pepper. The second sip is also thin at the beginning and characterized by dried berries, dark peaches and sulphurized raisins rest on the palate before peppery spiciness spreads throughout the mouth and massively stimulates the saliva. Raisins, dates and plums are slightly salty on the tongue, menthol and mint are refreshing on the palate. Peaches, caramel and zest from grapefruit peels follow, minimally resinous and hints of pine needles, the typical PX aromas also come into their own in the taste.
    • Finish
Menthol and mint stick to the palate with herbs and dried fruits, the remnants of the intense and peppery spiciness still tickle the tongue, caramel and prunes end in a subtle tobacco and leather note, hazelnuts float creamy on the tongue. with dark chocolate and cold espresso the aftertaste slowly fades away and leaves a satisfied grin on my face ...
