[August, 2017]  A New Zealand only bottling that is what I call a rarity!  And as I have a special relation to this far away land (I got married on a remote mountaintop in Fjordland National Park near Te Anau) I am very curious about this dram...

...that is really nice and I salute to New Zealand, surely I have to get back to this lovely country on my next wedding anniversary...
    • Nose
      87 87
The colour is burnished and the texture shows very late fat and sticky tears that slowly build some legs. The nose is quite closed due to the high abv and cries for water but after a while a fine herbal-sherry profile develops. Some fruits lurk in the background as if they wait to be released after a swimming exercise.
    • Taste
      86 86
The taste is sweet mainly on sherry-induced flavours and minor herbal aromas, nicely balanced (I like that). Some water releases a bunch of new aromas in the nose among them the lurking fruits, really nice. The mouthfeel gets smoother and looses the bitter and astringent moments. And both the taste and finish get more chocolatey and layered, this dram certainly is a great swimmer and I like it better with a fair share of water added.
    • Finish
      88 88
The initial mouthfeel is instantly coating (as the texture promised) and a little hot and peppery. Some bitter and astringent moments too (tannins) but not unpleasantly. The finish is long and adds some spicy notes to the profile, no bitter or astringent feelings here.
