  1. JoshNRW scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

I like the grainy mix of lemon fruit, sweetness, peat smoke and metal, but this is not the best Black & White I've had so far. It is a bit bubbly and simple. Still more exciting than today's blends in this price range.

The grain content was not insignificant. A really classic, old and simple blend.
The subtle smoke and machine oil note in the background makes it a bit exciting, but there is also a bit of fuel behind and sometimes before the sweet note (burnt sugar).

Immediately after opening it, I noticed a slightly fruity note, but unfortunately that disappeared after a few weeks in the open bottle. Now there is only a citrus note.
    • Taste
      84 84
On the palate it comes across as a bit coarse, not as soft and round as, for example, a Ballantine's from these vintages.
The Clynelish share will not have been particularly high. The Dalwhinnie share was much higher. It still seems a bit young and a bit too stormy for the few percent.

If you like rough edges, you can have a bit of fun here.
    • Finish
      85 85
You can feel a certain amount of Clynelish in the slightly oily finish, but there is also a good amount of tingling and white pepper at the end.
The finish is surprisingly long and oily for the 40 percent (but on a simple level).
