Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain 1987 MBa

Nose: very fresh, starts on lemonade and lemon pie, then comes green currants note, ripe pineapples, after a while some grass and ginger arrive.

Taste: oily and elegant developing on all types of yellow fruits and soft spices.

Finish: long and spicy, loads of salt, white pepper and ginger on your tongue, tiniest hint of smoke (0.5 ppm?) and some delicious fresh note at the end (not mint actually but close to it). Quite dry initially though becomes creamier and creamier with time.

Overall: very elegant and utterly drinkable Bunna combining rich fruitiness of Speyside and dry saltiness of Highland. You won't find strong peat and ashes here and in this particular case it's great. Had some hesitations whether to put 23 for taste, but after a few sessions they disappeared :)

    Score = 23 23 23 23, 92/100!

Sherry does not feel at all (most likely it was a large Oloroso podguljavshy). I can not say that this is a very balanced mole, in it, in its own way, the fresh floral fragrance is insanely beautiful (especially when tasted from a dozen old Bunn, which was not crushed with sherry), and in its own way a taste that is not a direct continuation of the flavor flowers and salt). At what though taste and perfectly-lemon-salty, but not insanely marine (I did not hear any oysters, sea breeze, algae, shells, or even sea stones in my mouth). If it was blind dega, and I was not at the tasting of the old Buns before, I would generally bow to Highland and its high brackish salinity (maybe even to Pultney).
    • Nose
Elegant, gentle-elegant aroma of the old floral Bunny (the garden in which grow acacia, violets, red peony, lilies, daffodils, lilies of the valley, white lilacs, magnolia and a dozen other flowers I do not know). At first: Lendendsy Montpensier with tropical flavors, sweet juicy herbs and roots, heather honey, bitten red apple, flowering meadow in hot summer with a mountain stream, pineapple from a can (with time ripe and juicy), Soviet lemonade "Buratino", green pear Williams, whipped eggs with salt and cream, tropical marmalade bears, green tropics (bananas, mangoes, papayas) Over time: Sweet Pamelo, marshmallow marshmallow, overripe gooseberries, peach pie (especially in the morning in a covered glenkerne), moldy cherry bones.
    • Taste
Lime-tangerine juice with salt, which added a little red pepper, a thick, thick olive oil with orange peel, lemon thick jelly, ginger in sugar, green Ogorki plums, dried fruit in a knot that was scooped up with a copper ladle.
    • Finish
Pretty long, salty (straight pieces of salt from the tongue I scrape off) with pleasant sourness, oily spices, light eucalyptus oil on the body, dry mint in the far corner of the attic, cooled green tea, nutmeg, apple pits, green olives

great Bunna, fresh, open, great balance and integration of alcohol that is hardly felt. Ripe fruits sprinkled with spices and a pinch of salt are haunted throughout testing
    • Nose
      91 91
open and tender, baked apples, citruses, walnuts, musty damp cellar, overripe pears, light smoke of an extinct fire, mangoes and bananas, peaches, which even resembles Ben Nevis, sea salt
    • Taste
      90 90
juicy, oily, apples in citrus juice, sprinkled with spices, slight bitterness of apricot pits, ripe yellow fruits
    • Finish
      89 89
ripe apples and pears, a little sprinkled with salt and spices

  4. Ostap scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

I want to enjoy the aroma endlessly. No hint of Isla. Fantastic taste, juicy, insanely drinkable.
    • Nose
      92 92
Very rich, dried fruits, fruit basket, vanilla, mint, light industrial notes, pastries, plum, floral, honey, baked apple, spices and condiments, orange pulp, lemon, tropical notes, gooseberry jam, notes of pills, black currant, caramel, licorice, pectin
    • Taste
      93 93
Fruit, salty at first, sea, tropical fruits, creamy iris, gradually sweet, with a pleasant sourness.
    • Finish
      92 92
Tropical fruits, creamy iris, warms, long, ice cream, pectin, licorice, again gooseberries, currants, caramels.

it does not look like a sherry extract at all, especially for 30 years, in all components light fruit prevails, probably the barrel was well poyuzannaya
    • Nose
      93 93
a very wide range of light fruit, directly scattering, but in the foreground is a kind of explosive mixture of Moldova grapes after the first frost and canned pineapple with a peach (Skitllz’s wife dreamed of being a child) - you can sit endlessly and enjoy
    • Taste
      90 90
adequately, but not so diverse, a wooden board is added to the fruit-berries
    • Finish
      89 89
oh, sorry, a little not mine, the fruit is noticeably fading away and everything goes very far into the tree and foliage and knits decently
