  1. Lorion scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

The nose gets really good after initial initial difficulties, but the palate is left with the difficulties and seems unfinished/immature. It's a shame - although I really like Oloroso barrel maturation, all in all it's disappointing when the competition from our own company is taken into account. 84 points.
    • Nose
Fresh at first, but soon heavier. Sherry and oak, bitterer than usual from Couvreur. Roasted aromas and spice are there and are only slowly replaced by dark fruits (berries) and leather. The sweetness doesn't come, it stays rather tart and dry. With a little time I notice rum raisins, leather becomes clearer and forms a unity with fruit and oak. The alcohol comes through every now and then, which is something I don't usually experience with Couvreur. After a while, herbs appear: nutmeg and spoiled mint! Walnut is added
    • Taste
A little sour, then sparkling. Leather and fruit are only added after a few seconds. The slightly musty leatheriness increases, fruit remains restrained. Not as dry as expected. Leather remains on the tongue. Oak aromas form.
    • Finish
      Medium length, sour-leathery
