A simple blend with a clearly sweet character, as is not unusual for Bushmills, which doesn't hurt anyone but doesn't leave you feeling satisfied either. It will probably find its true home in an Irish coffee.
    • Nose
      75 75
Immediately after pouring, vanilla and caramel, relatively strong notes, followed by a gentle herbal note. After a few moments, a subtle citrus note appears, which becomes increasingly stronger.

After standing for a long time, the whiskey seems downright sedate and fruity for a brief moment, movement immediately brings back the old image, with a slight fruitiness remaining.

When heated, the alcohol tickles your nose and the aromas break down. The herbal note from the beginning is now clearly dominant, plus there are chemical upper notes. As the temperature increases, the whole thing calms down a bit; fruit aromas that seem somewhat artificial now form the basis. When fully warmed, the vanilla, caramel and citrus notes return and everything is back to normal.
    • Taste
      68 68
For its 40%, the whiskey is surprisingly oily, the alcohol is powerful and is also quite harsh and slightly burning. On the flavor side, apart from honey sweetness, vanilla and caramel, there is little to be noticed. It is unmistakable that this is a blend with a significant proportion of grain. The slight bitterness that emerges at the end is particularly typical. This definitely doesn't come from an oak barrel.

In the second sip there is also some fruit acid, the bitterness towards the finish is more pronounced and accompanied by sugar water.
    • Finish
      65 65
The finish is a relatively short and unspectacular simple fade. As would be expected, there is almost no warming of the chest cavity at all.
