[December, 2021] I found this dram in this year's advents calendar...

...and this is one of the better Fettercairn thanks to its long maturation time. It offers the trademark (strange) grassy-leafy Fettercairn profile I do not like but it ends up in an interesting and flawless unusual taste. Worth to try, from time to time...
    • Nose
      87 87
The colour is yellow gold and the nose offers (guess what?) a Fettercairn profile (which I usually do not like). But this is interesting, at least. Like all Fettercairn it is very grassy and slightly bready, but it is more mature hence not too bad (thanks to 28 years of maturation). Still this is not my preferred style but I have to admit this nose is both flawless and enjoyable to sniff.
    • Taste
      88 88
The taste is (like almost all Fettercairn) slightly bitter because of the dominant grassy-leafy flavours but after some chewing powerful molten sugars sooth this quickly. After another round of chewing these sugars combine to an impression of milk chocolate which results in a very unusual combo of a grassy chocolate, very strange but not bad at all.
    • Finish
      88 88
The dram arrives warming and coating on my palate without distracting moments. The finish is of medium length and adds more barley sugars and spices which fit very well into the profile. Some water turns both nose and taste punchier while a bigger splash releases chalky-mineral aromas and smooths the taste. I like this dram both neat (for exploration) and reduced to about 46% abv (for quaffing).
