  1. Kaleva scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

Wonderful whisky with very strong old port aroma on the nose. I was wondered that it was matured in sherry cask. Complex nose and full-bodied, rounded and very tasty palate followed by pleasant and long-lasting finish with tobacco notes. Excellent! I will hunt for a full bottle.
    • Nose
Sweet, old porto, dried dark fruits: prunes, figs, cherries, syrup and toffee, strong notes of cane sugar, blood oranges, blackberry jam. Water opens up caramel and fruity notes (peach, some tropical fruits)
    • Taste
Sweet, spicy (peppers, cinnamon, clove), fruit pie with raisins, caramel, fudge, dark chocolate.
    • Finish
Medium-long, mouthwatering, sweet, dried tobacco leaves, leathery notes

Nose: aromatic, round and settled, leather, old rum pot with plums and dark fruits, dates, figs, raisins, some orange, cinnamon, nutmeg

Palate: pleasantly dry, round and settled, old rum pot, leather, dates, figs, raisins, some milk coffee, milk chocolate and hazelnuts, nutmeg, cinnamon, chervil

Finish: long, warm with a pleasant dryness, rum pot, leather, chervil, spiced wood

Rating: very nice whisky, which wet cask finishes cannot hold a candle to, it is so settled, round and intense. Leather, old rum pot, cinnamon and nutmeg. A really nice whisky that is fully mature.

I liked the nose very much, because the sharpness of the alcohol was not so noticeable. In the mouth it became a bit unbalanced, even a few drops of water were only able to do something to a limited extent. The finish then showed fine spice again.

Something nice can be guessed at.
A bit old school, a bit funk and that jammy fruit sweetness that I really like.
Fruit and herbs shake hands here.
Pear, apricot and ripe apple on one side, lovage, thyme and hyssop on the other.
Seems somehow familiar to me, let's see what's going on in the mouth....
    • Taste
      85 85
Spicy, strong and a bit spicy from the alcohol. He could swim well...
I have sherry, nuts, oak, tannins, slightly burnt caramel, malt.

With water it becomes a little rounder, but the alcohol touch remains.
Sweetness is always there, but the sharpness outweighs it a bit.
    • Finish
      88 88
Not so bitter at all, despite the clearly noticeable oak.
      Medium length and herbaceous.

A malt with a lot to discover, but too bitter and unbalanced for me.

Stinging at the beginning, dust, eucalyptus, pepper, leather, honey, nutmeg, orange, cinnamon, blueberry, oak, caramel. Pretty spicy. Becomes sweeter and fruity with standing time, milk chocolate, dates and prunes are added.

With water sweeter, rock sugar, lemon.
    • Taste
      85 85
Tart and spicy sherry taste, also a bit spicy. Leather, tobacco, vanilla, slight bitterness, cinnamon, pepper, orange.

Herbal notes (lovage) and a hint of smoke are added with water.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium long, dry, oak, honey, slightly fruity.

    Blind tasting

    Nose and taste

Solid, old-smelling nose, sweet and tart-spicy. Citrus fruits and dried plums. Oloroso sherry? Cinnamon and maple syrup. The sweetness is clear to smell but always combined with a bit of spice, very tasty and very interesting. The alcohol is very well integrated, but the nose is strong and full of aroma. Old, slightly dusty leather, a library?
The taste continues as in the nose, but even more spicy and bitter. Lots of leather, cinnamon and now also caramel, but not very sweet. Liquorice. Light menthol aromas? Creamy and sticky. My beloved spicy, bitter, dark forest honey. Still perfectly integrated alcohol, but incredibly powerful. I think I can recognize the oriental spices again, but last time I ran blindly into the wall with it ... I smell and taste them strongly again and therefore I clearly remember Glen Moray again. The finish is a bit drier and tart, slightly bitter with old wood and oak - but here, too, the tart sherry aromas with the dried fruits and the leather are still in the foreground.

    Conclusion
A very tasty, older sherry malt, I'll say Glen moray again, 22 years old and 51% alcohol. Very tasty and so far one of the winners in this advent calendar.
    N-92, T-91, F-91 for excellent 91 points!

Very noble part, the spice in connection with the leather notes and the fruit is just terrific.

Dusty library with old leather-bound tomes. The seat set also made of leather, also dusty. Fine moldy wood, grated nutmeg, chervil, thyme. Dates, figs, raisins. Blackberry jam still warm.
    • Taste
      91 91
Very sweet and dry start. Raisins, dates, figs, seasoned with pepper, nutmeg, chervil and coriander. Roasted orange peel, almond butter, ground hazelnut kernels.
    • Finish
      90 90
Long and dry. Here the dusty leather comes out of the nose again, a lot of dry wood, I even think I can make out a hint of smoke.

Tasted in the evening (10th whisky)

I'm confused. I have a lot of trouble with this whisky. There is hazelnut, it's dusty. On the palate, full, spicy, quite beefy in alcohol.

I passed clearly, to read the other comments.
