Wet coniferous forest, some tree bark, light honey. Lemon cake. Freshly mown grass.
Cornflakes, walnut cookies, some cocoa powder. A hint of candied ginger. Chocolate with lemon pieces.
- the best Japanese distillery, sooooo better than hyped Yamazaki
saffron, heather, fig jam, pumpkin, milk chocolate, blueberry muffin, apple pie
sweet & sherry, oak, apple ,blueberries, milk choc, chai tea, cinnamon, ginger bread & butter
lemon peel, choc, tobacco, oak
- Very nice stuff. Nuff said. Tasted on 13/11/2016 in a Japanese line-up (WB ID's 70236, 5443, 9252, 38412, 6016, 71248 and 20342, in that order).
Oh, this is nice! Flowers everywhere - I'm imagining The Sound Of Music in my head now! Some cinnamon, grassy notes as well, everything accompanied with a layer of vanilla beeswax.
This is the good stuff. Clean and crisp yet full of flavors: vanilla beeswax sweetness with floral floralness (is that a word? Well, you get the idea). Faint touch of wood.
Peppery spiciness kicking in, later on converting to sweet floral tones with some grassiness.
- In Scottish terms it might be close to Lowland territories.
First nose provides fine sourness, sour-sweet fruit - white apple like, apple juice, citron, juicy kiwi pulp, it is fresh, woodsy slightly, wood chips?, with hints of cut grass, mint leaf, eucalyptus and muskmelon.
Basically this is very summery indeed, warm, yet clear and delicate enough, with touches of field flowers, daisies, pollen/honeyed, anise, rosin, sleek (vanillic) wood, cashew, hazelnut. And after that: candied fruit jelly, gelatine, glucose,
A trifle sweet beginning alters promptly by herbal bitterness of fern, leafage, bay leaf, licorice root and menthol - cool, fresh.
Mid palate: chamomile tea, broth?, herb tea, wild (mānuka?) honey, a tad earthy, salty even.
Medium bodied, oily. Being moderate on the palate, it's got a nice balance indeed - no edginess, no sharpness whatsoever, nothing is jutting out there, everything's in harmony - ah, so Japanese that!
Lemon zest, (salty) lemon-/orange rind, coriander, nutmeg, bitter tangerines flare up then, ginger sherbet fizz. Citruses galore.Soft but lasting. With an exclusive balance once again.
- This is very young and not that matured in my opinion. However, the casks they used were exceptional. This is a very decent sherries whisky.
Very sweet without smoke, pineapple and stewed apple, banana and red berries.
Very smooth and mellow, banana and sherry, milk chocolate
medium finish, sherry and spices.
