For me a good addition to the 10-year-old and the Storm. For me it's right between the two. But due to the almost identical price to the 10-year-old, I would rather take the age representative. In my opinion, the Skye is a bit too sharp, especially when it comes to sharpness. The 10-year-old has the better balance. The metallic note in the taste also bothers me a bit. Still very solid.
    • Nose
      80 80
smoky, slightly sweet, slightly salty, fruity (tendency to apple compote), slightly peppery, slightly tart, some honey, maritime, dry, some leather
    • Taste
      83 83
sweet, fruity (apple and pear), very spicy (pepper, salt, chili), smoky, metallic, a hint of vanilla, notes of dark chocolate, oak
    • Finish
      83 83
medium-long, tart coffee notes, oak, woody, nutty, cigarette smoke, very spicy (again salt, pepper, chili)

Neither good nor bad, and similar to the GoT Talisker in that both have had all corners sanded out to make a round, easily consumed tarry peated whisky.
    • Nose
Nosing this next to a current Talisker 10yo, this one is extremely similar, but lacking the saline and other seaside notes of the 10yo. It's actually kind of hard to score this one accurately, since my nose tunes it out after a few moments since trying to pick up any detail from it is a taxing, boring experience.
    • Taste
A rounder, less salty 10yo here as well. It's surprising how similar the two are, but that just confirms to me that Skye is an unnecessary product.
    • Finish
Swift. The tar stays a while but nothing else does.

Not as good as the 10, but it’s close enough. I’m not sure of the price of this as it’s not sold in my market, but this could probably satisfy the same itch the 10 would if it’s a bit less expensive.
    • Nose
      84 84
      Some smoke, burnt sugar.
    • Taste
      84 84
      Smoke, salt, wood.
    • Finish
      85 85
Pepper (smoked), bitter oak, taste like after having smoked a cigar/pipe (pleasant enough, not ashy).

The nose is the best thing about this Talisker, imho.

    Weak, thinly rinsed Talisker.
Looks cheap, tastes cheap. Not my cup of tea ... uh whisky!

In fact, Talisker, the nose is still a bit the weak point, the mouth and the finish are neither complex nor particularly spectacular, but more intense than expected and, above all, delicious. A good side drinker, with Talisker kick. With the small price difference to the 10th one must ask oneself, why not buy this same ...
    • Nose
very slightly discreet, slightly smoky, slightly salty. Hints of Talisker, slightly sweetish fruity, yoghurt, youthful, some cardboard. Not unpleasant, but nothing more.
    • Taste
slightly smoky, tart, slightly salty more intense than expected, but also youthful notes are recognizable.
    • Finish
Mint, some pepper, fresh, peat, getting a little bitter. Towards the end, more Junged.

I had this malt in my glass years ago and was not really thrilled. But everyone deserves a second chance. However, I could have saved that too. My assessment of just under 79 WB points at the time (79/79/78) was again confirmed. It is not very complex and even the typical Talisker aromas come across very closed. I actually like Talisker from time to time, but the Skye will probably not get a third chance from me.

Young and mild Talisker. The smokiness here is rather weak and overall balance is not on the top. While the nose and the palate are not bad, the finish is the weakest place: it’s quite oaky with long bitter aftertaste. Well, this NAS is OK but just OK.
    • Nose
Light smoke, butter, mashed apples, caramel, coastal notes, light minerality (dusty and earthy tones), vanilla, nutmeg, oak
    • Taste
Sweet, peppery, strawberry marmalade, yellow apples and banana touch, maritime notes (brine and kelp), minerality, oak at the end
    • Finish
Medium-long, smoky, oaky (slightly bitter), getting dry slowly, ashy aftertaste

  13. Martin1965 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      Smoke, pepper, earthy, oranges,
    • Taste
Smoke, pepper, salt, seasoning, caramel with honey
    • Finish
      Short to medium

More smoke and much less oak than the 10 year old.
Well done for a NAS whisky.

Smells of nowt but tastes good - quite happily sup more.

A decent dram - like a silent fart it suddenly assails you, though in a pleasant way.
    • Nose
It is difficult to discern any particular aroma - I almost inhaled it but could detect little.
    • Taste
A warming mouth feel with some medicinal notes.
    • Finish
      Lingering and tingling pleasantly.
