  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

To my knowledge, the only 1940s vintage of the GM Brown Label series (there are a couple of 1930s vintages but not 1940s). Classic old-skool profile with lots of dustiness. A lovely dram.
    • Nose
Fragile with soft fruitiness of mango and tangerines intermingled with gentle smokiness of pipe tobacco and cigar boxes. A typical Brown Label nose with plenty of dustiness of beeswaxed furniture and gentle polished oak. Spices of cumin, aniseed, and camphor. Touch of sandalwood and roasted chestnuts later on.
    • Taste
Quite some paraxete sherry notes of stewed figs and dates. Also hints of cherries, raspberries jam and blackcurrants. Followed by notes of of gingerbread, butterscotch and toffee. Milk chocolate. Caramel. Subtle peatiness with sappy oak in the background. Very complex, despite its 40% ABV.
    • Finish
Medium long and sweet. Spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. A little menthol. Ginger at the end. Perfectly balanced.
