Cool and unique to be able to drink this.
And even though it is not yet officially whisky, it is already very tasty!
    • Nose
N: barbecue sauce, good fat cheeseburger, pickle, pickle juice, lots of peat, smoke, cooked green vegetables, eraser, wet forest soil
    • Taste
P: lots of peat, probably the smokiest kilchoman I've ever had. Vanilla, salty, greasy smash burgers, pickle, peat, medicinal, smoke,
    • Finish
F: like I'm lying with my tongue in an ashtray. Smoke. Lots of smoke. Peat, a little sweet from I think the bourbon barrel.

This bottle was bought at the distillery during my first visit to Islay in 2009. We opened it at the beach of Machir Bay and enjoyed it to the fullest. Then we took it home. A sample remains in my drawer which, pulled out 14 years later, is still proof of the fantastic spirit Kilchoman makes till this dag. As spirit and young peat product it seems to deliver even better than at a slightly advanced age. This is like a farm in a bottle, with the peat power being the dominant factor. If you never tried it, it is worth hunting down and bottle and being blown away!

This bottle is a really good glimpse into what Kilchoman would become. Light, peaty and a little brash, with the characteristic chalky peat of Kilchoman.
