A 27-year-old Fettercairn that was distilled in 1988, the year I was born. The nose is beautifully sweet and strong thanks to the oak. I can smell the fruit, but it's more in the background. The taste then becomes very intense. The cask wort and the alcohol really kick it up. Then it becomes sweet again and here too the fruit is more in the background. The finish is dry, but beautifully creamy and sweet. I can't find any off notes and the alcohol is very well integrated. The whisky is very drinkable without water, but a few drops add more flavor. It opens up and the fruit comes to the fore, which I personally think is great. Beautiful bottling.
    • Nose
The nose is dominated by a lovely sweetness, which presents itself with a lot of vanilla. Now it becomes a little peppery, slightly sour and fresh hay is added. The oak is powerful and brings a lovely depth to the glass. For fruit, I take a ripe pear and a little light peach.
    • Taste
A very spicy and intense start. The tongue begins to tingle and it becomes increasingly sharper. This is followed by dry wood which is slightly dusty. On top of that there is sweet honey and the same fruits as in the nose.
    • Finish
The finish is medium long, dry and creamy sweet.

Here, too, the fruits become a lot more intense after the first sip.
