got this sample as a blind one to taste. Went for a Glenfarclas 105, was not far off at all!

Long, warming, coffee, red fruits, chocolate, white pepper, drying oak notes.

    B2> B1
The B2 on the nose is fresher, more fruity, sweeter and less noticeable alcohol. The tongue has more chocolate, a little less oranges, but also spicy. Finish a little longer which is a plus

Nose: sweet and lovely, floral, blossom honey, pear, figs, milk chocolate, a few dates and baked apples, a little vanilla

Palate: sweet and lovely, smooth, brown sugar, milk chocolate, hazelnut cream, some date, orange note

Finish: medium length, warm, nutty, milk chocolate, slightly bitter

Rating: sweet, lovely and very pleasant. The alcohol is super integrated, so that it goes smoothly and smoothly: sweetness, milk chocolate, floral and a nice play of aromas. A fine thing that, even if I personally lack tart and spicy notes; but so be it. For the price for people who like things sweet, round and lovely, a clear recommendation.

This is such an amazing, surprising whisky! This is what i call WHISKY! Great notes and the spicy, oaky notes are so clear. A great job for those guys at Tamdhu!

Sherried notes like raisins and plums to start with. Next up sweet notes like caramel, milk chocolate, toffees and sticky honey. There is even a hint of freshly baked pancakes. At the end spicy notes like spicy cake, old wood and a little hint of cinnamon. Amazing!
    • Taste
      92 92
Raisins complemented by figs and plums. And also the palate is quite sweet. Hints of caramel and caramelized apples. And the sticky honey comes back too. Christmas spices together with spiced oak. At the end a hint of cinnamon.

Unfortunately a bit on the short side. But with nice notes of caramel, sweet oak with a hint of cinnamon.

Did this one H2H with batch 001: Nose is very similar, only 001 has stronger alcohol, more sharp. In the body, 002 is more smooth. In the finish 001 is more fruity where 002 has more tobacco.
Final verdict: Both very nice, but I like 002 just a little more.

In the nose the painting appears complex and older, with water it becomes more fruity. In the taste he gives way a bit and needs water to take away the heat. If you like it hot, you can leave out the water. In the finish he is unfortunately a bit ... bland, at the very end.

Nose: Somewhat dusty, with sherry and peanuts. Ripe yellow plums, raspberries, a little wood. Slightly alcoholic, the distilling character seems to be clearly through. The youth is also clear. Overall, the nose is rather restrained. With water, the nose becomes milder, nutty, the raspberry becomes clearer.
Palate: The distillate is more pronounced than the barrel, but it's good. Besides the nice maltiness and distillery fruitiness are: sherry, peanut, khaki. The sherry is clear, but not too much. The sweetness is also in the frame. There may also be a bit of smoke (1 ppm).
Finish: long with licorice, khaki and wood.
Conclusion: nice malt, but you should not compare it with sherry bombs, because he can not keep up.

    • Finish
      Mittellang

On the one-hand, this is a straight-forward heavily sherried whisky. On the other, this is a really particularly tasty straight-forward sherried whisky. I’ve always had a lot of time for older Tamdhu bottlings and Batch Strength 002 gives me high hopes that the distillery’s future releases are going to be cracking. The bottling offers deep, rich sherry flavours at high strength, but with excellent balance from the nose through to the finish. It takes water well – and indeed, you’ll get the most out of it with a little addition of water

    https://www.thedramble.com/tastings/tamdhu/tamdhu-batch-strength-002/
    • Nose
Richly sherried, but quite fresh and crisp. Starting with chocolate, coffee ground grounds, raisins and both dried and stewed fruits, this also presents some earthiness in the form of moist soils and cracked walnuts, as well as some lively garden fresh greenness. The addition of water helps express some both citrus, and some underlying bakery notes – both spices, but also newly made loaves of bread.
    • Taste
Very viscous and mouthcoating. Sticky toffee pudding, treacle sponge, dark chocolate and cocoa beans leave no doubt as to the deeply sherried nature of this whisky. These rich flavours are supported by reduced and dried fruits – plums and berries. Again, there’s some yeastiness here – pastries and freshly made dough, as well as more interesting nuances – cola cubes and balsamic. In the back palate, things get earthy, nutty and spicy – soils, walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg – as well as a gradual slightly mineral flavour – part orange peels, part sea salt. Worryingly drinkable at 58.5%, lets add a little water – soft, syrupy fruits (a bit more stone fruit now – apricots and peaches) as well as heightened nuttiness and some buttery biscuit (base).
    • Finish
Quite long, with a pleasant fade and mixing berries and biscuits with dark sugars and tingly spice.

  42. Totoro scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Too hot (not because of the high alcohol content, but in the way of too-hastily-distilled spirit), which poses a dilemma: at full strength the sherry aromas (which, if we're honest, are the reason we're here) are nice and nutty, thick and dense, but there simply is too much heat on the tongue to enjoy it this way. If you add water until the burn subsides, the aromas disintegrate and the American oak (this is "modern" sherry maturation, after all) becomes too prominent. Man, do I miss good old European-oak sherry casks...
I really enjoyed the Tamdhu 10 at 43%, compared to which this is a disappointment.

If you're in the market for a sherry-heavy cask strength edition, you're better off with the Glengoyne CS, which is young as well, but better integrated and less rough. Or of course Glendronach CS (which has less overt sherry, though).

Very nice color, dark copper, undyed. Nose: WOW, fierce, sherry, dark fruits, sugar, sweet, baked apples, just great. Palate: Silky soft in the mouth, alcohol very well integrated, no burning, baked apples, sugared dark fruits, forest honey, light oak flavors, spice. Finish : Long, sweetness, spices, sherry fruits, very slight oak dryness, not bitter, not unpleasant. Wonderful droplet, excellent PLV, gives 89/100 points. Comparison to the 10s: Similar, only in violent because more alcohol, about 2-3 points better than the 10s. Could I stand by NEN bigsample of.

N- Generous waves of fresh sherry, prunes, light cream custard, raisin bitter chocolate and sweet menthol. A reversal of Batch 001, albeit not as solid and punchy considering both are almost same on strength, the sweet grassy, leaf with morning dew, charming and fresh character make this a very pleasant and easy type of CS dram to sip.

P- Sticky and syrupy mouthfeel with sweet-sour cherry and dried fruit jam, ripe and round with layer of spicy woody notes, touch of fine coffee notes.

F- Long, marmalade, jammy, mint, cherry, dry, good chewy tannin and elegantly spicy. More than decent, modern straight forward and clean sherried dram. Personally much preferred the slightly 'dirty' 001.

    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Fruity sherry notes caress my nose tip. The high-potency alcohol content (58.5%) causes a slight cooling, but is well integrated overall. Sweet cherries, raspberries, wild berries and plums are dominant. The fruity-sweet notes are joined by nutty aromas, vanilla, dark forest honey, hints of baked pancakes and first signs of spicy oak. So far, the Tamdhu makes a fruity-fresh and pleasant multi-layered impression without being overstrained.
    • Taste
Silky soft, the Tamdhu wets the entire mouth before the high alcohol content makes for a strong onset. On the tip of the tongue, a slight tingling sets in, while sweet sherry flavors run smoothly along the cheeks. Red groats, baked apples, raisins, plums and dark forest honey dominate the flavor. Christmas spices, caramel, walnuts and spicy oak notes complement the beautiful taste profile, which is still more on the fruity-fresh side settled. With the help of a few drops of water, the Tamdhu regains its sweetness and fruitiness without losing any noticeable strength. Thanks to the cask strength you can experiment very well with water. The palate already creates a subtle bitterness.
    • Finish
Medium long, intense and warming. At the beginning of the finish, a light pepperiness briefly flashes before the fruity sweet sherry notes gradually fade away. Spicy oak notes, a hint of vanilla / caramel and spices / herbs are gaining dominance. Finally, a subtle dryness and bitterness on the palate.

Who likes the Aberlour A'Bunadh, will love the Tamdhu - provided you like sweetness, sherry, honey, elegance. The price-performance ratio is excellent.
    • Nose
First of all, the really great dark copper color of this undyed and not cool filtered whisky in batch strength delights. The scent of sherry, baked apples, forest soil rises after a summer rain, dark plums. Then a pleasant mint freshness comes in.
With a few drops of water , the Tamdhu becomes full sweet. Honey, plums, sherry. Quite incredible.
    • Taste
Comes very sweet and supple in the mouth. Here then lead the baking flavors, the sherry and honey notes a beautiful three-way conversation. Then mix in the ripe plums and herbs, which were for a good time on the wet weather forest floor. And the alcohol, the mint? Yes, in the background, then getting stronger, then stepping discreetly into the background. Great. Sweet, full, strong, ripe. With a little water: The characteristic goes back to sweetness. Honey, sherry, plums. Very great, full mouthfeel. Thick, caramel, almost like whisky liqueur. But you realize the power behind it.
    • Finish
The honey sweetness with sherry and plum base remains in the end, too. Cinnamon is added, a nice spiciness. Wonderfully balanced, the Tamdhu remains present for a long time. With a little water: A nice spiciness now complements the sweetness. For me, these are earthy dead notes, some may think of delicate oak tones. Anyway, nice, round, elegant.
