    Blind Tasting: April 2021
    • Nose
The nose is initially very floral, with perfume and newly beaten grass. After a while some fruity notes. The nose is well balanced.
    • Taste
Cereal, newly baked bread and brown sugar. A balanced body with good sherry fruit, some oak wood and a touch of vanilla.
    • Finish
Medium to long and very pleasant. Mild sherry, with raisins and caramel.

I'm not a proven laddie fan - not yet. Even if this drop doesn't completely convince me, it brings me closer to Laddie.
Edit: In a cross comparison with the 1990/27 exciting. In the mouth at eye level, because it is better balanced. In the nose, however, far back.
    • Nose
      83 83
At first very restrained and needs a lot of patience, the nose is not the strength of this malt.
With a lot of surface on the glass, the fruity notes of the finish are evident.
    • Taste
      88 88
Still quite tingling at 46%, I can imagine why they didn't choose the cask strength here. Tart wood tones combine with a slight fruitiness, well balanced imho. More like currant. Dark chocolate. Oak. Vanilla flavored latte macchiato.
    • Finish
      87 87
Fades away on caramel, no longer so bitter with time. Medium length

    the nose is superb indeed.

Bought it as I'm a fan of Mourvèdre. No regret there!
    • Nose
      90 90
Clear vanilla and caramel on the nose with a sweet peppery background (which is why I wanted that one, yay!) Going well with low peat smoke. Pears poached in wine - a bit of cloves then. Slight iodine end, going on seashells. Very pleasant.
    • Taste
      84 84
In the mouth, more caramel and some custard. Smooth spices come to mind too, especially ginger. Pears fade away to grapes. Very sweet in the mouth yet a bit thin
    • Finish
      88 88
Going on a very oaky/caramelly and peppery finish. It stays there well leaving a pleasant peppery sensation.

Quite good but not very catchy. Water helped a bit though but it misses something.
    • Nose
A bit closed at first. Apple, pear, whiffs of vanilla, slightly grassy.
    • Taste
Creamy and oaky. Fruits from the nose, spices. Lots of oak overpowering the rest actually. Let's try water. Less oak, more malt, some sweetness.
    • Finish
      Medium, drying, cloves.

  7. vredensever scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Aroma : sea, iodine, bread, apples, grapes, dried berries, wood, a hint of peat, spices (vanilla, cinnamon). The taste is slightly sweet: honey, apples, spices (pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger), herbs, butter, chocolate with nuts, charred wood, a little salt and peat. The aftertaste is slightly astringent: an oak, a slight hint of peat, apple jam, spices. Conclusion . Cool Bruichladdich. Complex, smooth. Slightly slimy. There is not enough pressure. Rating 87 (n22t22f21b22).

Finished in wine casks: very nice. Its worth.
    • Nose
Malty but also a little bit soapy. Sherry tones. Vanille, and woody tones.
    • Taste
Nice sweetness, warming, again malty, massive and sherry tones.

Complex . Dry fruit, like raisins, nuts etc.
    • Finish
Middlelong, bitter sweet malt, again complex, roast chestnuts. Just complex again.

  9. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

in itself very good, if the alcohol would be better integrated.
    • Nose
fruity sherry, woody and malty, vanilla, overlaid with a certain alcoholic pungency
    • Taste
sweet and malty, again fruity sherry, for 46% quite spicy, oak
    • Finish
      medium, rather fruity, grapes

  10. Timo scored this whisky 41 points Expert Junior

Totally overrated whisky. Rather a fruit maker than a malt whisky. No great whisky!
    • Nose
The nose is rather weak. Flowery, perfumed, Obstler.
    • Taste
The taste is not complex. Bitter, malty, woody, very dry, burning on the tongue, Obstler.
    • Finish
The finish is long. Not very pleasant, warm, dry.
