[October, 2017]  Another find in my sample library from a time when I did neither tasting notes nor scores yet.  So I do this some 20+ years later now...The colour is jonquiripe corn and the texture shows slow legs and late sticky tears.  The nose is simply adorable "old style" with tons of the delicious OBF (old bottle flavour) and dozens of different fruits, honey, herbs, spices, wooden aromas and many more.  All in great harmony with no one dominating any other - that is what I call a superb nose!  I am damned sure there are significant older casks in this batch too (a common practice back then) as no 8-year old whisky can develop such a complex aromas profile.  It arrives on the palate instantly coating and warming without any distractig moment.  The taste is fruity sweet with some sherry-induced flavours (obviously there were some sherry casks in this batch, too) and herbs and spices in a firm wooden structure, really delicious.  It is nicely layered and gets sweeter over time.  The finish is of medium length and the weakest part of this dram but still very good.  No bitter or drying moments there, all is fine.  Water is not needed at all.

A flabbergasting surprise of an old young whisky that I prefer over most of the (excessive priced) young old whiskies that flood the market these days.  That is the good thing if you are a drinker only - it is just the taste that is relevant and no age or vintage statement...

Nose: Hardly sherry! Lots of old herbs, lemongrass, bright fruits, copper, vanilla, fresh wood, menthol, subtle smoke. Very bourbon-heavy Glendronach. Taste: Herbal lemonade, vanilla, colorful pepper, young freshly treated wood, long finish with vanilla pudding, herbal mixture and bitter wood Conclusion: Great but sometimes another Glendronach with beautiful Bourbon-Cask influence. But not very exciting
