  1. Ostfriese scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

For someone who likes Islay whiskys with sherry influence, a must! But beware, the 58.1% are hardly noticeable. He is very soft and velvety, almost tasty. A top PLV!
    • Nose
First, there is the cold smoke of a dying fire, which is permeated by the smell of the ashes. Fruits, raisins, blood oranges and cherries accompany cinnamon and vanilla flavors. Then there is also a touch of sweet honey ...
    • Taste
A powerful sweetness spreads, syrup and vanilla. This is followed by smoked bacon, barbecue fire, wet leather, honey and spices. Nothing comes to the fore, all the aromas are harmoniously interwoven.
    • Finish
Medium length and drying. The cold smoke and the sweet linger for a while, there is a relatively short custard.

  3. malthead-1984 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

An extremely good balanced malt for the young age.
    • Nose
beautiful rich warm smoke carried by dark cherry and Christmas aromas, would almost touch port, very soft and harmonious, slightly dirty
    • Taste
tender and soft, it starts slightly sweet, the smoke becomes more medicinal, which I would never have expected in the nose
    • Finish
very sweet and fruity, with a great smoky note, mouthwashing and long, great aromas. very tasty

  4. StyrianSpirit scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

This is a very harmonious, strong, smoky-earthy and fruity whisky. I really like such malts and this variation very much.
    • Nose
In the nose rises immediately a distinctive Selchrauchnote. Behind this smoke is the sherry barrel present and I feel dark fruits and a beautiful forest-enriched earthiness.
    • Taste
Gets strong in the mouth, but also quickly fruity and sweeter. The malt is very balanced, the alcohol strength is well integrated and the second button is next to the fine herbal note and a PX sweet noticeable (which seems to me from the Lagavulin DE known). A very nice palate experience.
    • Finish
In the medium-long finish, the whole harmony of spice, smoke and fruit accumulates again.

  6. Daniel Hohleweg scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very pleasant malt. I am glad that I still have a bottle in the closet.
    • Nose
A lot of cold smoke, reminds me of the flex dust, which I usually perceive at the Octomore. Then maritime, salty notes, but also something floral. Following are dark fruits such as raisins and cherries to recognize.
    • Taste
The smoke also spreads in the mouth. With the smoke, I perceive citrus notes. It follows a pleasant sweetness of toffee and vanilla. Everything is nicely balanced.
    • Finish
      Nice finish. Middle-long +
