    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Tutankhamun’s bracelet

The nose had smoke, soot, ash and coal-sacks, balanced by
lemon bonbons, lime marmalade, kiwi and dark berries; for hungry souls there
was shellfish with salsa verde and lobster Marie Rose (foamy shrimps for the
sweet-toothed). The palate was a beach barbeque – some got prawn cocktail and
char-grilled gambas, but others were taking their eye off a grill with sausages
and sage-marinated pork chops. Water changed the nose to sugared almonds,
deep-fried seaweed and clay pigeon shooting on pebble beaches (waxed jackets,
welly boots, shotgun shells). The palate now combined sweet smoke with citric,
salty, mineral elements (lemon squeezed over oysters).
