This was a palate opener one night for a tasting... it's so much more than that though. I had to seek out a bottle and get my hands on more of it.

After having some of the Cadenhead releases, also very good but different, this is a fruity and very well balanced dram compared to their dry and sharp bottles.

Wow, fruit city! Seems very floral and soft initially, little hints of chalk dust and wet soil, with a touch of that Benrinnes spice in there too. Maybe a touch of fennel and cooked grains in there too. Really suits that summer feeling.
    • Taste
      88 88
Burst of peppery fruit, heat and drying malty sand. There's a touch of honey, barley malt and maybe even a little mint in there too. It's sharp and will take some water and time to relax, but it opens up really nicely.
    • Finish
      87 87
Spicy, dry oak and citrus. Tartness like a granny smith apple and a touch more mint, Meyer lemon and sweet vermouth come to mind with a bit more vanilla syrup too.

fruits, honey, very malty, grassy and leafy. Really like that taste

full and round with some spices, but at the same time soft with honey

A good molt, wood-herbal aroma seems to be preparing us for the shock strength of taste from a young and juicy wood-moonshine dominant, but everything is much thinner and more interesting, years are felt in a barrel, sweet citrus notes lead us in a sweet-grass direction with mineral-metal inclusions.
    • Nose
Open, dry, ostregannaya dry board, herbal notes - drying hay, medicinal herbs; mineral shades - chalk, stone crumb; grain, malt, vegetables - chopped cabbage, Margilan radish; light sweet-lemon shades, vanilla.
    • Taste
Powerful, calm, woody herbal, pills in the shell, lemon peel in sweet tea, a little pepper, vegetable notes, light metallic acidity, astringent mineral tones, more sweetness develops, creamy shades appear.
    • Finish
Light, refreshing, lemon peel, candied orange, grain, malt, light woody notes, nuts, coffee, cola, more mineral, sharp in development.

    Nose:
Fresh, light fruit (kiwi, pear, peach), geranium, cake dough. Cereal and some wax. Fruit blossoms. The alcohol is slightly noticeable.
With water: mineral, opens up noticeably, fruity (kiwi, gooseberries), vanilla. The waxy component becomes clearer, grain comes back and it gets deeper. Mouth:
Sweet onset, then quickly a bit sour-fruity and noticeably peppery. Good abundance. Cereal, some wax and again the light fruit. Purified sugar and spicy oak. Again, the alcohol is present. Gradually gets a little rounder.
With water: Clearly round, supple and accessible, light fruit, the pepper is now better integrated. Wax and also mineral notes.
    finish:
Persistent, medium length. Clearly cereal, spicy oak and also here light-fruity and slightly peppery. Dry and back with a touch of bitterness.
With water: spicy, malty, balanced and also fruity. Peppery at the back, the slight bitterness is gone. Conclusion:
A fresh malt. Just a bit hot. Aromatically little barrel influence, here the distillate sets the tone, the barrel has only the structural maturity effected. Needed - for me - noticeably water, then he is much more balanced.
