Boring style. Looks very made and put together according to scheme F. Fruit, smoke, some spice. Inconsequential, albeit flawless and drinkable.

Exactly my style. Well done! 85 points.
    • Nose
Smoky fruitiness. The smoke is sweet with tart notes. Chocolate.
    • Taste
Smoking basket with berries and cherry. Chocolate.
    • Finish
Medium to long with a chocolaty smoke.

The perfect description should be smoked sangria! Great ripped red oranges, smoke, peat, bonfire tint and red fruit jams

Much would be written about the grades. For me there remains an imbalance and he is a bit aggressive. The dram wants attention, but it's not round enough for that.

Nice combination of sherry and red wine barrels, which clearly set the tone for the aroma. The light Bowmore peat smoke forms a nice contrast to this. The nose inspires me, but the mouthfeel and the relatively short finish cloud my joy a little.

    Detailed tasting notes:
    https://www.aboutwhisky.de/tastingnotes/bowmore-10-jahre-inspired-by-the-devils-casks/
    • Nose
Pleasant Bowmore smoke spreads in the room as soon as it is poured. When nosing, the smoke clearly draws the short straw behind lush sherry and red wine aromas, but still remains in the background. The aroma is slightly musty with leather, sherry and red wine are very well balanced. I find currants and blackberries, as well as sour cherries. After a few minutes, the oak becomes more present and brings a "spice cabinet aroma", as well as nutmeg and sourdough bread. The character is more on the dry side, complemented by a weak sweetness.
    • Taste
On the tongue it is very pleasant and slightly sweet. The sherry and wine aromas with the berries are immediately there again. The smoke is a bit more in the foreground than in the nose, but still nicely integrated. After a short time, the oak's spice cabinet comes along with leather and some cinnamon.
    • Finish
The spices are left with a slight bitterness of the oak. The peat smoke complements the whole. But then it's over, the finish is unfortunately a bit short.

The Bowmore IbtDC is very convincing in terms of color and appearance, although it has to be assessed negatively that Bowmore - also here - worked with dye, therefore a few prints.
But in taste with a very convincing complexity and balance between fruitiness and Bowmore's own intense smoke / peat aroma, this whisky is a "must-have" in every well-stocked collection.

Lots of red fruit. Maybe even redcurrant. Cherry. Smoke traces. Vanilla. Light sweetness.

Smoke. Sweet smoke. Vanilla. Spices. Light salt. Red fruit.
    • Finish

Smoke. Sweet smoke. Spices. Salt. Medium-long finish.

The Bowmore is musty and heavy in the glass, the first association makes it appear older than the 10 years on the label. Dark fruits, a light note of sauerkraut (much more subtle here than in the Ledaig 18) and subtle sweetness rise relatively calmly from the glass. Gradually, the fruity notes become more and more dominant (peach, figs?), the musty notes clear up and the sweetness becomes stronger. Very similar to the standard 15, probably minimally fuller.

Round and full in the mouth for 10 years, also fruity and spicy with lots of chocolate and some ash. Due to the higher alcohol content, it is a little more intense than the 15 but also a little less full and creamy.

The finish also begins with cold ash, which is gradually pushed out by dark chocolate. Fruit notes show up only discreetly in the background. The 15 is far more voluminous and complex here, and also less angular.
    Length: 5/10

Overall a great Bowmore that I would have bought 15 years from if I didn't have the 15 right next to it. Only the sauerkraut note from the nose doesn't really appeal to me, but of course it makes it more interesting and complex (and disappears relatively quickly). In a direct comparison, the 15 from the standard range wins for me at least.

    Rating: B+

    • Nose

A combination of lightly smoked bacon and yellow fruits. Maybe passion fruit or ripe peaches. A slightly maritime leather note also resonates. Overall, the smoke is discreetly held back.
    • Taste
      85 85
A spicy, salty note determines the mouthfeel. Little by little, the smoke from the background works its way forward. dark cherries, but a little faint on the chest. Already here a slight bitter note.
    • Finish
      85 85
A warming finish that becomes increasingly bitter. A hint of dark chocolate and subdued smoke. You can have this paint in your bar cabinet without any problems and will drink it again and again, but not the big hit in my opinion.

A little contradictory, as for me. Specific aroma. Maybe not enough sample to try.

Roasted nuts in sugar glaze, oriental sweets (baklava type), sweet ashes, new gum (with talc), candies "Crayfish", burnt sugar, cookies with chocolate-nut filling in milk, a bunch of oak, noticeably sweet, with spices, fragrant field herbs, moisture, peppermint, dust and cardboard, granite, cowshed, barbecue sausage, hot chocolate, dark bread.
    • Taste

Smoke, ash, fuel oil, sleepers, juicy, barbecue (meat on the grill), dried fruits.

Advance information about my point allocation:
    I rate my whisky's privately with a ten-point scale
    (XX, X of 10.0)!

    Smell / nose
Leathery and greasy smoke, overripe cherries, plums, red wine, all in all a lot of dark fruit.
Later fuller and more mature in the nose, almost heavy!
Slight sulphurous tinge, hints of orange.

    Taste / mouth
Fruity, sweet, dark fruits, drying out easily, something heavy deposits on the tongue as a coating (mixture of tobacco and leather). Chocolate, coffee.
    Rauch integrated very well!

    Departure / throat
Medium-long - long, dry, spicy, dark fruits, spices (Christmas), a touch of salt, orange. After a long time, some mint.

    notes
Great to smell! Light complexity. Balanced.

    • Nose
barely noticeable smoke, tropical fruits, sherry, grapefruit, passion fruit, plum, raisins, butter, bread
    • Taste
Orange jelly = dominoes, dark cherries, blood orange, also hardly smoky in taste, rather peppery
    • Finish
      bitter after dark peppery chocolate

I let the dram breathe in the glass for about an hour. A great malt. Very pleasant aroma combination. Very balanced and the smoke is well integrated. Delicious. I would have thought him older blindly.
    • Nose
Nice start, some smoke, rather reserved, lots of fruit, chocolate, slightly spicy, later some peppermint and a hint of smoked ham, really great aromas
    • Taste
fruity sweet in the beginning accompanied by a subtle smoky note. Chocolate, slightly pepper, very slightly bitter later, dark chocolate, at the end the smoked ham comes again but this time on the ashy side, becoming oily
    • Finish
long finish, again sweet and fruity with a light smoky note, but here also a little salty in the background. Chocolate present again here too

Cherry pie with cream. This bottling has character. I would like to try cask strength. Overall successful and I think the current price of around 70 € is just about reasonable.
    • Nose
      86 86
Red berries, fruit tea, country air. Sweetness and acidity go hand in hand. I like it, could even be a little more intense for me.
    • Taste
      86 86
Herbs, ripe cherries and forest fruits. The alcohol could be incorporated a little better. Slightly burnt caramel, cream with grated dark chocolate. Reminiscent of cherry cake with dark chocolate. Delicious.
    • Finish
      85 85
Unfortunately, only rather short to medium length, but that was not to be expected otherwise with 46% alcohol by volume. Dark cherry and dark chocolate set the tone at the end. Nice.

Long story short: a diluted Devil's Cask Bowmore? No, rather a strong and hence better Bowmore standard expression which profits from the abv and the cask selection. Well balanced and interesting, I like it.

This could have been a stunner, it has all the correct elements for a classic Bowmore. However, the wine casks, bring a slight harsh element especially on the taste, which ruins the score.
    • Nose

Baked red apples, ginger, cinnamon, pears, clover, lime citrus and of course that classic Bowmore peat smoke integrated with all the elements, shines through. Depth and character.

Sponge cake, clove, light spice, burnt sugar, pepper and liquorice.

    I'll resume this quite simply.
-This is NOT a Devil's Cask, do not expect this much
    -This is 1L vs 700/750.
    -They're still 4x cheaper than a DC.

This asside, it's loaded of flavors, definitely classical diluted bowmore if i can say it like this. Smoky, fruity, texture is a bit weak but hey its a 46% bowmore, quite tasty. Some nice spices and sugar in there.

For me, this is what you have when you don't want to sip an expensive bowmore but wish for this flavor profile. You just ate or smoked a cigar, well, doesnt change a thing, you pick this over the expensive stuff.

Very rich, very intense sherry. Smoked raspberry. Humus, damp undergrowth. Fire of Saint John, in the forest. We warm ourselves at a big fire in the middle of the night, in the countryside. Open a ripe pomegranate. Grains crush in hand. The juice flows between the fingers. Nice balance between smoke and red fruits. Palate almost maderized. Cherry, morello cherries, blackberries, some currants, wood and charcoal. Smoked ham. Increasingly strong spices, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, gray pepper. Then jam of blueberries, quinces, apricots. Sparkling, intense, gourmet, wine-red, cola, cocoa, coffee beans, very long, superb finish. Strawberry juice mixed with sugar to finish.

The soy sauce hand-filled from Bowmore in recent years is undoubtedly too much for me like an elderly person, 46% is a wise choice, thanks to the more heavy-mouthed background, the wine barrel can not drink any smell, It's more like adding a bit of dry sherry, yes, you can add points.
    • Nose
Delicious smoked ham, refreshing, herbal peat with sea salt flavor. Ginger shreds, green curry, string books, bright and thin red fruits, cloves, bay leaves, western-style stewed spices.

Xiao Xiao Su Su, hearty and clean mud gas, like the incense ash mixed with many seasonings, a bit of yeast dough flavor of red wine barrel, Shirley barrel is not obvious.
    • Taste
Salt and pepper, ash, tobacco, peat, raisins, dark dried fruits, brown sugar, caramel, lemon juice, black tea milk tea, some sour (semi-dried sherry), black chocolate, cinnamon, corrugated board, earth, even some sliced ham Sense of grease.

Yes, the fat is good, sweet, a little sour, no tannin, no astringency, bitter, no spicy.
    • Finish

Barriques is a very common type of wine barrels. The capacity of wine barrels in Bordeaux is generally around 225L (59 gallons) (https://www.winespectator.com/articles/what-is-wine-barrel-barrique-54184)

    Watching Eyes: soot (gradually afraid)
Wenxiang Nose: It's tough for the first few minutes. Red wine vinegar, fermented dough, a bit of alcohol, dark berries, a certain sense of stickiness, a little KFC tomato sauce & barbecue sauce, black berry, purple cherries, fried dried fruit, fool seeds, rich and deep, Nine-made bayberry, a little salty, a little plum sauce, blueberry clear lozenges, a little bacon, rich and sweet, fine black, fine coordination, and good coordination. Palate: refreshing plum juice and bayberry Juice, it wasn't a storm, but it was gentle. The middle section started to turn into a thick face, a little sulfur, disinfection water, a little salty taste, black tea, old furniture, tobacco, coffee grounds, cocoa powder, a little bit of dead branches and leaves, the aroma of fermentation continues to advance, and the balance is very good. Rhyme Finish: Long, handmade brown sugar, black tea water, fermented tea, the feeling is very obvious, plum, as time goes on, the feeling of returning to Gan becomes more and more intense. Body: Medium, average firmness, with a bitter bottom, a little Tannin with medium acidity

A very idiosyncratic and interesting Bowmore, slightly dirty, especially in the finish. I like it because of its idiosyncratic profile, even if it isn't too complex. Measured against the amount of 1L, the price is currently around 60-70 euros.

      - Interesting nose, very idiosyncratic but exciting

    #Blindtasting
A very unusual drop, which is not always clean in the aroma, but is fun to explore.
    • Nose
first of all I have a full nose of burned plastic. It seems to be a candidate of its own. The sherry flavors pave the way, rather the dry variety, a strange wood chipboard aroma blocks the way down, sweet fruits, a little root vegetable. Also something old bottle flavor, something sweet metallic? I say I've never done anything like this before. Caraway fennel. Tea, if there is also some peat, I am still undecided. It is not clear, but it could be responsible for one or the other aroma.
    • Taste
OK, no peat, sweet and fruity, sherry aromas, tart oak, a little forest honey, also a little old bottle flavor, the aroma sticks a little on the palate, sweet, slightly metallic, a hint of root vegetables.
    • Finish
Eucalyptus, quite tart at the end, oak, sweet, earthy aromas, a little bitterness. Undefined flavors, but now actually something like clear evidence for the peat ... and there an idea begins to ripen.

Nice nose! Creamy, full, velvety, redolent of Bowmore's trademark buttery, leathery smoke. Simultaneously sweet and savory, with an emphasis on the former. Cherry marmalade spilled all over an old leather sofa sitting by an autumnal bonfire, that kind of thing. Not very complex, but de-li-cious, and as well-rounded as a pebble washed smooth by the tides. Water increases the peatiness (or invokes it in the first place).

In the mouth, it's decidedly less creamy and polished. The letdown arrives with a very slight alcoholic nip and a mouthfeel that is juuuust a bit too watery. Also, the red wine casks make their presence felt right after we've crossed the mid-palate, with spiky, tart tannins that do not mesh well with the whispering softness of the nose. Like many wine-cask matured whiskies, this one is front-loaded, boasting a good attack that closely dovetails the nose only to veer off course after the midway point and end up in a jumble of winey overlay and acerbic tanninicity.

A game of two halves, then: A simple but immaculate nose; an incongruous palate that is ultimately spoiled by the use of wine casks. Too bad, really.

Always nice when a Bowmore is bottled at a slightly higher drinking strength.
The exotic fruits, especially the passion fruit note, make this bottling unmistakable for me. I hope it will be available for a few more years.
    • Nose
Delicate smoke, tobacco, damp wood. sea freshness. In addition, fresh, fruity notes. Squeezed passion fruit, grapefruit and honeydew melon.
    • Taste
Powerful attack with nice spice. Again only gentle smoke and again a full broadside of passion fruit.
    • Finish
Long finish with slightly bitter oak and exotic fruits. A quarter of an hour later you can taste passion fruit and some leather.

Great Bowmore, Sometimes it's hard to say that if it's from Islay.

Some once introduced ot to me and got me straight away.

It's inspired by the Devil's Cask collection.... never tried it before , but I deffinily must do that.

Complex blend of fruit, sweetness and spice, noticeable little smoke for Bowmore, interesting but not outstanding, upper third
    • Nose
Sherry, dark fruits, spicy, powerful aroma, a hint of medicine at the back and a hint of smoke
    • Taste
Voluminous, enormous, overripe cherries, dark chocolate
    • Finish
medium length, stronger on the finish but still little smoke, bitter wood

Notes from a blind tasting. No whisky for me.
    • Nose
Uff. Tough smoke, soaked in alcoholic fermented fruits. Passion fruits, bananas, cassis and blackberries, all too long and hanging in the room with a heavy scent. For me quite uncomfortable, in addition to spices such as coriander and juniper.
    • Taste
Cassis again (I can not stand Cassis), the smoke here is mild, but still Bowmore-typical "mushy". You can feel the red wine with dark red fruit notes and a spicy Tannin, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves spread in the mouth.
    • Finish
A little bit of pepper before heavy oak initiates the finish.

Actually, he is already doing a lot right. Varied and exciting, you taste the origin, but not boring. Less bitter, however, he should have been finally in the mouth and the finish.
    • Nose
Freshly flavored, spicy smoke rises on fermented fruits. Leather remains in front of a tannery, old tobacco leaves. Spicy at the beginning, then becomes increasingly fruity and shows notes of plums and raisins. Many fine-seasoned spices: cloves, juniper berries, bay leaves, a little cinnamon.
    • Taste
Currant juice and mild smoke at the beginning. Strong and dry when starting. Dark chocolate, caramel, leather and tobacco give the whisky a "dark" finish. With the time getting bitter, cinnamon is again. Reminds a little of Lindt's Christmas chocolate.
    • Finish
Medium long, dry, still smoky (cold), with a tart, almost bitter spicy note, lots of chocolate.

I do not know the original Devils Cask, but this 10y convinces. Not too lax, somewhat idiosyncratic and harsh, which I now attributed to the wine barrels. PLV I find ok, if they would just omit the paint bucket ..
    • Nose
Discreet camp fire smoke, exotic fruits, sweet fruit candy, floral, citrus notes, light wine notes, milk chocolate, some mint
    • Taste
Smooth mouthfeel, on the tongue at the first sip much more smoke than in the nose, dark chocolate, plum jam, spices and ashes, nice start, but I expected 46% more steam
    • Finish
Long, dirty, oak is felt, the sweetness fades with time

Once again a very delicious Bowmore, tasty would be almost unfair - he has character and would rather consciously enjoy being slugged on the side like his (also delicious) little 9-year-old brother, 75 € / liter are quite appropriate.
    • Nose
the smoke stops first, exotic-sweet fruit note - multivitamin juice (grapefruit / passion fruit slightly dominating) with milk chocolate, gingerbread spice, some peppermint ... after a while, then tasty smoked ham comes along
    • Taste
short herb-fruity (dark cherry? blood orange?), then dark chocolate, something reminds of Sachertorte, dominoes, with some pepper, here less ham / bacon, more ash, a bit dirty
    • Finish
long, the exotic fruit notes (passion fruit, grapefruit) sound shortly after, then pepper, ashen-bitter, an illusion of salt and bacon

Dirty and Rotten ... The wolf in peat fur => KRASS
    • Nose
Dried fruits such as raisins and dates caress the nose. In addition a dirty discreet smoke and a little minty freshness. An impression of engine room with tobacco and leather fragrances.
    • Taste
Sweet dried fruits dominate and are perfectly flanked by the snotty smoke. Alcoholic sharpness and for 46% neat pressure.
    • Finish
      Long, dirty and sweet

Amber color, more discreet nose than the previous, caramel, chewing gum, red fruits, nuts, a little too chemical. The mouth is thicker, more powerful than the previous one, but a little alcoholic, always a chemical side, dry enough it lacks gluttony. In this one the nose is more peaty than the mouth. The salty side of Bowmore is unobtrusive. Finale of medium length, a little alcohol, spices, nuts. Pretty disappointing.

For me he leaves a somewhat ambiguous impression. Very nice, loud base one OA Bowmore I'm actually on bittertones. but with this Bowmore they just bother me a bit. The tart comes from the red wine barrels. I really like The Devil's Casks - Small Batch Release III. But dyed according to base. Hard to believe . If only the high price and the color were not
    • Nose
For me, the orange peel and grapefruit dominate, followed by smoked bacon cubes.
    • Taste
Here too the sweet grapefruit comes through after the sweetness. Again these smoked fat bacon cubes and tart liquorice.
    • Finish
medium, an interplay between sweet and bitter.

Exciting Bowmore. The nose is idiosyncratic and overproduced. The similarity to the Devils Cask series is there, but here as well I find it a bit too bitter in between.
    • Nose
Sweet, vinous notes, cherries, Amarena cherries, but then also ham, smoke, meaty. Already idiosyncratic, but exciting.
    • Taste
Very dry, a lot of sherry, oak, smoke, also a certain sweetness.
    • Finish
bitter-sweet, sherry, amarena cherries, peat. Again some ham, but then rather tart oak.

    • Taste
Start very sweet paired with smoke, oily and creamy in the mouth, now come spices and soft chocolate.
    • Finish
dries up, it leaves a lot of ash, some orange and a pleasant spiciness.

Nose: greasy, smoky, floral, aromatic herbs (could really be some caraway), bread crust and berry fruit. An almost typical nose of bacon-sherry-sweet Bowmors but the intense floral / herbal aromas make it interesting. Strong and warming with powerful sherry sweetness and now warm ash as smoky flavor. Very creamy and sticky sweet. Towards the back, it becomes rather dry and the smoke turns more and more into ashes. The spices stay, but have a hard time against the sherry and the smoke. At the second sip, there are even Christmas spices added - cloves and cinnamon.

I like it really well. Much better than the almost simultaneously published 9 year old and the pleasing Darkest. Intense yet tasty Bowmore for the price (70-80 EUR) despite E150 a clear buy recommendation from me.

Nose: For me surprisingly more old-style Bowmore with a smoky-flowery start, reminiscent of a walk on the beach, strawberry, currant, the alcohol content is also noticeable

Taste: Strong onset with creamy mouthfeel, fruity with a slight sweetness, more smoke than I would have expected, a hint of ash aromas

Finish: Medium-long and warm, the creaminess remains, slightly smoky and antiseptic

All in all a great Dram if you consider the price / performance ratio in the current environment!

  79. Einfach_Supi scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Nose: Lush moist peat, the typical Bowmore sherry nose, pepaart with sour notes of red wine, with spices, a little disturbing the caraway. But everything is full under the greasy, sweet peat

Mouth: Here too the sweet peat, very mild and oily in the mouth, plum and marzipan, again the kitchen spices. Aggravated in the finish, tempered with candy.

Conclusion: Decent Dram with nice flavors, unfortunately this caraway flavor disturbs me and does not make him a purchase candidate. Overall, too soft and mild, is it my daily form? I have a 10cl sample, so there is still time to try again.
For the time being 80 points

If I remember the Devils Cask, the similarity is there. Here, what I salute, the strong oak of the Devils Cask is missing and there is a pleasant slight sharpness there. A nice dram!
    • Nose
First there are glowing ashes and plums, then cinnamon, dark wood and oily furniture polish.
    • Taste
First there are cool smoke and cherries, followed by dark chocolate and oranges. Then some salt and a decent Jalapenos sharpness. He is slightly oily on the tongue.
    • Finish
Long and dry. It remains campfire smoke, salty, currant, and a slight sharpness. Is there cinnamon again?
