Yes, this is a nice portmalt, not only gefinished, but 12 years in Port Puncheon matured. Intense, sweet and fruity, really tasty. With 3 drops of water even more strawberry notes and even more sweetness come out. Too bad that he is only 12 years old, there would have been more in it.
    • Nose
Fichtennadelsirup, fair, cotton candy, stomach bread, plum jam, blackberry jelly, raspberries, leather, roasted almonds, roasted nuts, vanilla, acacia honey, milk chocolate, intense nose
    • Taste
oily, sweet, spicy, strawberry jam, plum jam, black cherry jam, raspberry jelly, peach jelly, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cotton candy, vanilla pudding with hot cherries, acacia honey, apricots, a drop of balsamic, a hint of Maggi, milk chocolate, dark chocolate sauce, juice oranges, something Anise and a lot of dark licorice
    • Finish
medium long, intense, sweet, fruity, spicy, with strawberry jam, blueberries, vanilla pudding and chocolate sauce with a touch of ginger, a hint of anise and lots of licorice ... simply beautiful ...

    Strong part
    • Nose
Burnt almonds, wholesome plums, figs, jam, thick cherry juice, red berries, almost pure Port wine, some spruce needles
    • Taste
Sweet, red fruits, oppressive alcohol, peppery, lots of oak, sal ammoniac
    • Finish
Oak spice without a trace of bitterness, lots of sweetness sticks to the palate, licorice

Another magnificent single cask bottling by Glendronach. Beautiful and strong nose. A first sip made me immediately reach out to some water. Much too strong for me to drink it like it has been bottled. This lead to a slightly accessible dram. Loads of fruit and pleasant sweetness.
The finish is medium long and for sure the weakest part of this whisky.

I never have been a fan of Port finished whisky, though this isn't finished, I still think they could've done better.
Anyhow, it is still decent whisky.
    • Nose

Dark aroma's of dried red fruit, some wine notes. Cocoa and leather in here too. It tends to smell a bit like a bitter dark chocolate. There is a portnote in the background.
    • Taste
      86 86
Quite sweet. There is a pleasing sweet-sour balance. After that there is a clear port note. Some cookie dough with chocolate and some vanilla
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium-long lenght. Again the chocolate and port notes. There is also some wood influence in the finish, which gives it a bitter undertone.

Shared this one with friends in a Glendronach tasting. It's a great example of the possibilities with port maturation. When you compare it H2H with other single cask GD's with an 11-12 years age like we did, you can definitely tell the port cask is giving the Glendronach a whole other and interesting dimension.
    • Nose
An interesting good full nose with a lot of port influences. It seems oily, creamy and quite a bit punchy on the nose. there's raisins, red fruits and coffee notes.
    • Taste
Oh yes this is oily and creamy for sure. It can have quite a bit of water since the alcoholic influence is a little to big for me. WIth water it's becoming more friendly and better understandable. there's tons of red fruit and also a fatty, sweet port note. it's has got a decent body.
    • Finish
It's not one that remains for a whole lot of time but it is there and it's nice. Wood notes, nutty and sweet.

    Tried without adding water.
    • Nose
Strong in the nose. Röstaroma and raisins and other dark fruits.
    • Taste
Tingling on the tongue. This is where the dark fruits first prevail. Afterwards chocolate and a touch of oak.
    • Finish
The strong start gives way to a dry finish. Warm and medium in length.

a nice example of a Portfassreifung, for my taste a few years on the wood could suck. Pur better.
    • Nose
Pure: rather fresh, citrusy first, dry rose wine. Crushed mint leaves. Later raspberry jello. gets better in the glass quickly. With a little water: drier, more acidic, but also sweeter. Sweet-sour, so to speak.
    • Taste
Pur: nice fruity sweet start, good pure drinkable. Here, too, the freshness note, now white chocolate and some soup spices. Delicious. With water: very spicy now, peppery, salty and dry. Without better.
    • Finish
      medium long, fruity, becoming drier.

Nose: starts with pickled raisins, with red berries and plenty of toffee, plum wine, light vanilla, with pencil shavings and a decent portion of pepper. The alcohol is clearly noticeable, but is well integrated

Taste: strong onset, again many raisins, cinnamon and oranges show up, the oak also comes back with spices, such as cardamom. Harmonious, but the alcohol is a bit too strong

Finish: medium-long and dry, toffee notes, red fruits, spicy wood, without becoming bitter. With water: A true swimmer, the red fruit is now especially with strawberry syrup to full effect, it is even rounder, without losing the oak notes

Conclusion: Good malt with a great barrel, especially after adding water, he is a small but fine dream - 87 points

A beautifully composed and delicate dram. Nicely complex, elegant and
well-balanced. The rich, sweet and fruity character blends quite well
with the depth of the port puncheon and the intriguing warm oak spices.
Very sweet and juicy neat with a tamed fruitiness and increased
spiciness when diluted. An excellent and savoury after dinner single
    malt.

    • Nose
An elegant and fruity nose with red berries, plums and cherries.
Lingering wine aroma nicely mixed with vanilla and a hint of cinnamon.
The alcohol is present but by no means pungent. Subtle notes of oak with
slightly bitter grape peel in the back. Enticing!
    • Taste
Supremely sweet and vinous. Creamy vanilla, brown sugar and sweet wine
flavours intermingling with red berries, plums and a touch of cinnamon.
Slightly warming spiciness of oak, white pepper and a prickling
alcoholic bite. Creamy acacia honey towards the finish. Mouth coating
      and well rounded.
    • Finish
A wonderfully sweet, creamy and long finish with plum jam, honey and
subtle cinnamon. Slightly drying and tender astringent with oak and a
touch of bitter grape peel. Very appealing!

      WITH WATER: A few drops
of water enhances the fruitiness on the nose. Additionally, both the
wine flavours and spiciness (oak, nutmeg and cinnamon) are increased.
Significantly spicier on the palate with oak and black pepper, followed
by a lovely but slightly tamed sweetness of vanilla, honey, red berries
and wine flavours. The finish is long, subtle sweet and creamy with
slightly drying notes of oak and grape peel.
