Tasty sherry tones that switch nicely between sweet, fruity and spicy. Unfortunately a slight sulfur note and a little bit of complexity.
    • Nose
Sherry-rich, fruity nose with a hint of sulfur in the background. Apparently very active barrels. Oranges.
    • Taste
Strong start. Creamy mouthfeel. Cream Toffee. Sweet sherry. Then spicy with oak notes.
    • Finish
      Medium. Something sulfur. Warming. Mild.

Continuation of the blind tasting fourth of 24 drams. Puh the finish kills the dram. The alcohol is not well implemented and I guess the dram is very overpowered (65% is my guess) and not very old (8 years). Nevertheless the nose and the start in the mouth make this one kind of special even if I do not want to have this one again :-)

I have no clue which distillery it could, maybe from Islay but only due to the salty bacon influence …

Wow I would have never expected an Arran and the alcohol is much less as expected. Only the young age has been guessed correctly from my side.
    • Nose
a lot of wood and oak then after a while a bit of barbecue sauce and smoked salty bacon.
    • Taste
First a decent sweetness and a lot of alcohol on the tongue. Without water it is difficult to name anything
    • Finish
very wooden and oaky. Not my thing…

  4. rottendon scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Quite strong, multi-layered and lively dram, one must like sulfur, the finish might be a little longer.

    Notes from a blind tasting.

A pigeon told me that he was 8 years old. Great thing! Impressive color for Fino, some do not succeed in 40 years ...
    • Nose
Oranges and sherry fruits at the beginning, strong, with some sulfur directly behind. After some time, it looks a little sweeter, fuller, but now also has some acidity in the background, the sulfur has manifested on a medium level. Watermelon, bitter orange and peach. When heated, it is even fruity and fresher, but also caramel and floor wax are now developing. At hand temperature, he is then very sweet and full, the acid is beautifully integrated, very appetizing the whole thing.
    • Taste
Very strong, while honey sweet with clear acidity and a few bitter notes. Everything entwined with each other. At the back he gets a bit salty and the acid gets stronger. With other slips, strong spicy herbs gain more and more weight, especially when it is cooler. The mouthfeel is pleasantly full.
    • Finish
The finish starts warming and salty, before moving swiftly and sweetly to the bitter side. A hint of smoke? Leaves a mouthfeel like dry red wine.
