I like smoky and I like BenRiach
but together ... kind of ambivalent.
Really nice smoker's nose, then I look in vain for the Benriach fruit behind it. Bright, sometimes tropical fruits or even gooseberries ... here more vegetable and smoke. Maybe floral with lilac but then smoke again. Do you need a Benriach ??? Benriach un-peated fans don't need it. Rauch fans can buy it, but you can get that on Islay and often even deeper. Sorry, weird criticism but what can I say?

[Blind Tasting] First there is endless smoke in the nose, stinging alcohol in the mouth followed by bitterness and cold ashes. Puuuh - the first thing that came to mind here was the Ardbeg Supernova. Hmm - with the second sip there was a certain sweetness that cannot come from Ex-BC pure plus a hotness with a tendency to chilli.

Clear smoke, could have come from Islay or the islands

Stinging alcohol, cold ashes, bitterness. Only with the second sip is there a pleasant sweetness.
    • Finish

Rather unspectacular compared to the massive feeling of tiredness

A dram for a cold autumn evening.
It's a big one, bags full of flavors and nothing subtle about any of them.
    True Cracker
    • Nose
Thick, Full and Robust - opens with demerara sugar and jars full of caramel and golden syrup. A real richness begins to creep in with amarena cherries. All the while theres a campfire burning away, the smoke from the fire filling the air with aromas of the burning wood lingering nicely.
    • Taste
Big and powerful, with a real heavy flavour coating the palate. Big and oily mouthfeel of burnt wood, ash and some earthiness. There is a tart berry note in there, reminds me of BlackBerry jam, perhaps a little of those amarena cherries from the nose. Some herbal notes becoming more present the longer you hold it.
    • Finish
Drying, with over burnt caramel, some charred wood and a few of those blackberries on the extra tart side.
Very long finish, the kind which stays the rest of the night.
