N: Instant sulphur (gunpowder, cowhide, horseradish), wasabi, sea water, iodine and burnt sugar, dried smoked berries

P: sulphur leads the way with some copper and dried berries, black licorice, salt, menthol

F: Sulphur notes, gun smoke, lead, dry berries on burnt toast. Leather definitely, dry. Tiger balm, eucalyptus.

I don’t mind the flavors, but it’s really dominated by sulphur. I appear to be the outlier on this though because others don’t seem to mind.

This is the first malt where reading other reviews, makes me realize I do have an aversion to sulphur. At first I thought it added interesting notes, and sure, it does sometimes. The problem is, it’s too dominant and pushes the other flavours away. Anyways, goes to show, everyone had their own tastes.

A whisky to end your evening with, as any other whisky pales in comparison after this. Over the top in almost every way, but strangely enough it works.
    • Nose
Whoof! Dirrrrty. Gun powder galore! Unlike I've ever smelled before. Except for actual gun powder of course. I've seen reviews that specifically mention this doesn't have sulphur. They must've been talking about a different whisky. Anyway, onwards! Grilled meat, anchovies, ashes. There' some old leather here too, as well as maple syrup and berries.
    • Taste
Plenty of sulphur here too, but just like with the nose, I don't actually mind this type of gun powder-y aroma layer. There's some sweet brown sugar and treacle, as well as plenty of campfire smoke. Some leather too, as well as a big pinch of salt.
    • Finish
Long, dry, salty, peaty and smoky.

    Superb.
    • Nose
Obviously sherry matured, rather a dry one. This makes this dram pretty dirty. There is boggy, salty peat, cow stable, anchovies, licorice root, almonds, and old leather. Behind that, there is a hint of burnt sugar, as in caramel. In the back, there just a teeny tiny bit of fruit: dates.
    • Taste
Very salty and sweet together, with licorice allsorts, and salmiak. Then, the fruit pops op, with dates, stewed plums, oranges and figs. Then, there is still a decent amount of old leather bags, salted almonds, coffee, and cinnamon.
    • Finish
Very long, pleasantly sour, and hardly drying. It's again a nice combination of earthy peat and licorice, nuts, and dried fruit.

Beautiful and firm whisky, with modest turf influences and also nice sweet notes. Smell is already nice, but taste and finish are getting better. Very pleasant.
    • Nose
Light peat, leather, ash. Also sweet, caramel, toffee. Later on, a somewhat salty odor arises, and also a hint of a stable air (sounds more inconceivable than it is) and hay. Full smell.
    • Taste
Salmiak kick at the beginning, leather, honey, toffee, apricot. Full flavor, later also slightly salty, and now some tobacco.
    • Finish
Long. Light pepper now, dry. Sweet, caramel, honey. Very slight bitterness, wood influences? Slightly smoky now, what peat still.
