Another very nice Laphroaig 10 CS version. Very fresh on the nose and very shy concerning the finish.

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 8/10
    • Nose
Smoke, iodine, salt, grass, mineral, burned banana, hints of sherry, some beef.
    • Taste
Fresh, sweet and dry. TCP, some salt, oil, milk chocolate.
    • Finish
Long. Oak. Hints of dark chocolate. Compared to other Laphroaig 10 CS versions very shy.

Unexpected balance and easy to drink, if you put Laphroaig QA or ordinary 10 years with it, I will definitely think this is the lowest degree.
    • Nose
Peat, charcoal-baked low-fat meat, smoke rings, iodine water, pot soil, hay, sorghum stems, almond milk, cream, toffee, chocolate, and some salt.
    • Taste
Grass ash, chimney, iodine water, vanilla, citrus, hard candy with grape flavor, toffee, malt, sea salt, floral fragrance.
    • Finish
For a long time, fireworks, fruit candy.

  6. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Powerful Lafroig concentrate, everything that we love in it in large doses, invigorating, juicy, perfectly balanced, the palette is not very diverse and does not shine in semitones, here the emphasis is on expressiveness and brightness.
    • Nose
Restrained, wet, raw boards, peat, ash-mineral and marine notes, leafy leaves, smoked fish with a light douche, lemon peel, fondant.
    • Taste
Powerful, saturated, wood-peat, powerful pepper wave, charred branches, charcoal, sweet creamy notes, burnt caramel, fudge, bandages, milk chocolate.
    • Finish
Spicy, invigorating, ash-peat, mineral and marine notes, leather goods, coal, engine oil, bandages, medical shades, sweet tropical motifs.

    old traffic jam:
intense nose with peat, spices, smoke, citrus fruits a little candied and fresh lemon! A little meaty and maritime, back from the hospital corridor, in the mouth, it continues with a more pronounced scent more oily on peat, citrus and also a little wood; the final is long on the same markers, lemon, slightly cooked fruits stand out.

Serge: "Did you know that a typical batch at Laphroaig gathers 250 barrels."

N: Malty oaky tropical sugars, light consolidated smoke, herbal action,…. oh this could be a cracker!
T: The nose comes through on the palate too with papaya, melon, [Bowmore-esque] violets [again] and a touch of totally integrated oily TCP, all topped off with some OBE magic. Wow!
F: Fruity & oaky with only hints of smoke in comparison to today’s other Laphroaig’s. Long witch hazel plaster finish, sloe gin, ashy at the death.
C: I’m told batch 001 is even better! We shall try that next. This is up there with the best Laphroaig I’ve had. The kind of whisky I could drown myself in.

A very good young Laphroaig in cask strength - one of the first of the 10 CS series that will soon arrive at Batch # 011.
The nice thing is: His successors are barely one iota worse than him. Since you can safely access so far.
    • Nose
      91 91
Heavy smoke, seaweed, algae, salt, fresh tarred road, solar heated roofing felt - the full Laphroaig program. Through all this, one means to be able to sniff red fruits and a splash of lemon.
    • Taste
      90 90
Unlike what is expected with this nose, he does not jump on the tongue directly, rather he approaches the whole thing "subtly" (as far as possible) and puts a dry layer of smoke into the palate. Then comes a little licorice, but at the same time a good dose of sugar candy. Nice sweet and smoky at the same time.
    • Finish
      91 91
Long, dry, smoky (with bacon), with a little lemon and grape juice.

[November, 2010]  I had this during a community tasting near Bonn.In
my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 87,5.  I just noted "Yes, it is a Laphroaig..."
