0155-BIG PEAT THE EXPLORER'S EDITION SMALL BATCH ISLAY BLENDED MALT DOUGLAS LAING & CO. 48%.
...I like this kind of atmosphere. I already knew all of this. It's truly the Islay vibe in a nutshell.
    • Nose
...I know this from somewhere, I've smelled it more than once. Peat, sweetish peat, not too strong, balanced, cherries, a first aid kit with bandages, a hospital corridor, disinfectant, wet grass after rain, a bit muddy, forest, moss, leaf litter—moist forest climates, a bit of maritime climate, iodine, thermal baths from Ciechocinek or Inowrocław, damp salt. Nothing that would knock me off my feet, but the smell is pleasant and not repulsive. The distillate gently "tickles" in my nose, a rocking boat on the water, smoke from a dying fire, a fire site, burning rubber on the asphalt—the car is gone, but you can still feel that it was there a moment ago.
    • Taste
...slightly oily, pleasantly warming... gingery and peppery, once the first "time" wears off, brine appears, a bit of fatty mackerel with lemon, oil crisps, salty like breadsticks with coarse salt or canned salted peanuts. The second sip - a campfire smoke, a delicate sweetness, not too sweet, a cherry from the spirit, slightly tart and sweetish, simultaneously pitted bitter, and still briny, something like ayran, a Turkish yogurt drink.
    • Finish
...for me it's long, smoky, sweet, peppery, gingery and clovey, ending with a slight burnt and bitterness
