A superb whisky! The wood has given the best distillate for nearly half a century. The lack of length in the mouth is largely compensated by the richness and the density of the aromas. A bottle that I would like to have in my collection! Available for about 700 €, this wish may never come true :)
    • Nose
sweet, delicate, but promising beautiful things. Here we are clearly in a fruity register: cherry clafoutis, plum jam, apricot crumble, candied oranges. These notes of fruit are dense and marry wonderfully with a more pastry side including dark chocolate, cinnamon, a touch of crème fraiche, almond cream, nuts and coffee. This Strathisla 1967 also offers fresh notes of mint, eucalyptus, lemon, anise or even thyme. Enchanting.
    • Taste
the texture is surprisingly light. The aromas are melted in the most beautiful of ways. Here we have an ultra coherent dram where everything is in its place. The flavors are growing. We find here notes of plums, apricots and candied oranges, notes of dark chocolate, almond cream, walnut cake, a hint of coffee, custard, cinnamon . The notes of mint, anise and lemon prevent this cake from being disgusting. It is gourmet and delicate like a fine pastry.
    • Finish
a beautiful freshness. The wood did its job for 48 years and yet it would be almost forgotten here. The aromas are melted and intense but it lacks a little length in the mouth. I wish that this Strathisla 1967 had a few more horses under the hood. Anyway, it remains beautiful with aromas of coffee, chocolate and fruit compote of a beautiful intensity.
