Whisky Reviews for Glenmorangie 10-years-old
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 80.88 points
- A flawless, but rather uninspired entry level malt. Around 30 to 35 EUR, depending on where you look. Fine whisky for (no offense!) beginners.
The nose is very sweet and docile on vanilla, toffee, honey and white fruit. Think apples and pears, but also – with a bit of good will – some gooseberries. Slightly more creamy than I remember, so it has that going for it at least.
It is also oily, almost creamy, on the palate. That’s nice. It is again very sweet (on more of the same from the nose, albeit joined by some raisin, almonds and loads of caramel), but also a bit spicy. Very soft, though. Just a whiff of pepper, almost not worthy to be mentioned.
The medium long finish continues in the same league.
- [June, 2016] Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 27 Euro in March, 2014.
In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 85. I took no notes.
- overall a very smooth, mellow and mature single malt that is easy to drink and only show's weakness on th palate
very delicate; slight sweetness; citrus notes; lemon; lime; tangerine; apples; pears; peach; dried fruits in the backround; slight spices; hints of oak; overall a good, complex and mellow nose
very mild/mellow; sweet barley; slight vanilla; (dryed) fruits; nuts; after some time more exotic flavors like coconut; very smooth and mellow although the lack of %vol is noticable
oak; spices more dominant; hints of chocolate; sweetness in the backround; (bitter) friuts; hints of coffee; nuts; surprisingly intense and long finish
