A soothing malt, so to speak, I really like it very much. There really isn't much more to say about it.

    Notes from a blind tasting.
    • Nose
      86 86
Starts timidly with a slightly pointed chemical acidity, after a few moments sweetness is added, the association is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't get it, most likely red wine mousse or something, unusual but not unpleasant. It looks fruity, but not like real fruit, more esther-heavy like a Hampden rum, but not nearly as blatant. After a good ten minutes of standing, it seems much more settled, but still esther-like. Now, however, beautifully integrated in a sweet pudding cream. In between I had several (extremely pleasant) touches of roast beef, should I have burned my nose with the last whisky? Esther drives warmth out of the whisky, and it also has a slightly alcoholic effect. After a few moments, the Esther give way to rotten fallen fruit, could I have the Jamaica rum back, please? Ah thanks, the fallen fruit is gone again. Still a lot of acid now and mineral notes. Lactic acid and tweaking alcohol, some smoke? After he reaches full heat, the Esthers are gone. Instead, only the caramel cream with now a few dried fruits.

In the mouth, however, it is very nice. Dense, oily sweetness at the beginning, restrained fruit notes follow and towards the back a beautiful, only slightly ash-like light fruitiness develops and completely occupies the mouth. The alcohol unfolds parallel to this, gradually increasing its effect. It contains almost no bitter substances. This whisky is in an excellent, almost spiritual balance. Omm!
    • Finish
      89 89
The finish is not really long and consists of a slow fade, which suits this malt very well.

An excellent bourbon nose. Flavor and finish are great too. Alcohol is not too strong. He looks older.

a great ex-Bourbon barrel whisky, as he can not be better.
    • Nose
a great ex-bourbon nose, ripe, yellow fruit, more cooked, quince, apricots, mirabelle plums, vanilla, subtle oak, which leaves a nice impression. Some moss. The nose looks pretty old.
    • Taste
sweet, but also strong, oily, intense, dried apricots, pepper, a little bitterness, a hint of wood.
    • Finish
first harsh, then a little bit of menthol, oak, the apricots are looking over again, the alcohol is tickling something, bitter end with a slight sweet touch.

    good to drink
    • Nose
      very waxy
green, sweetish, woodruff light marzipan note, some smoke, beautiful waxy herbs, nutty The nose is very compact and noble the sweetness is after a while something artificial and too violent
    • Taste
full-bodied and strong, very light alcoholic notes nutty, many% that slightly displace the aromas Honey, herbs and nut are the main flavors
    • Finish
long Marzipan note is getting stronger the whole thing soaked with nutty alcohol a little flashback of noble drops in nut a fruit brandy%, chocolate, nut, sugar crust

  9. Archer scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

At the beginning, I briefly recalled an Irish single pot still. But only for a short while. The adhesive approach at the beginning does not bother at all. A round thing with beautiful spice and fruit notes.
    • Nose
Sweet and spicy with a nice spice note. A glimpse of glue evaporates quickly. The spices stay in the nose for a long time: pepper, juniper, cloves, bay leaves. Over time, a nice fruity note comes through. Red grapes, blackberries, blueberries. The initially dominant spices only shimmer through, now fruity and pleasant "thick", saturated. Vanilla and caramel are coming.
    • Taste
Pretty big start. Lots of vanilla, orange peel, some oak directly. Dry, almost dusty. Again spices at the beginning, but less intense, as in the nose, but a bit bitter. Wild herbs. The already clear oak note is a constant companion. Honey is there, but rather the bitter variant. Leather and tobacco notes. Later he will be nice peppery.
    • Finish
Medium long, dry, vanilla, tart honey, tart herbs, pepper, old wood and old leather.

Nose : The thing smells full to my taste; full and creamy fruity, Nimm-2, citrus, a light tropical touch, sweet light honey, vanilla, sawdust, some curry spice and a touch of solvent. The alcohol stands out occasionally and testifies to cask strength.
Taste: Spicy strong onset, lots of tangerine and orange, colorful pepper, curry, vanilla and a lot of dry oak (sawdust). In the finish also a lot of wood, honey again and beautiful - a little mango. Surprisingly dry and violent (but without being alcoholic) but not very long.
