  1. TheWhiskySloth scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Robust, with a surprising amount of alcohol prickle in the nose. This bottle had a really high fill level and shows little to no OBE apart from the slightest hint of glassy minerality and a metalic edge. All in all I was really impressed and taking rarity from the equation I feel this stands up very well against it’s modern equivalents. Even with only 40% ABV it puts up a fight and I’d have loved to try this at 50%+.

Honey, golden syrup, tinned pears, tart cooking apples, toasted malt and toasted almond flakes, apple crumble with more crumble than apple! Hay, straw, some soot and a little metallic touch of copper coins.
    • Taste
      89 89
Buttery and almost oily in feel. Sponge cake and bakewell tarts, granola with an edge of orange oils, bitters and a little hops.
    • Finish
      86 86
Bitter oranges and then sweeter orange flesh. A tiny pinch of cracked black pepper.
