  1. Lorion scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

First in the nose quite bulky and a bit out of round. Over time he becomes more and more pleasant and really good. The palate tops it then - fantastic! The nose gets an 88, the palate a 92. Altogether 90!
    • Nose
Vanilla comes first! That's unexpected. But then comes directly Nussigkeit and dry fruit. The vanilla sweetened the whole thing but permanently. Gradually, a pleasant oak flavor comes, which is dominant with prunes and raisins. The alcohol is not disturbing, but felt. He does it all fresh. Now comes chocolate. Slowly the nose becomes more pleasing. Chocolate fruits caress the nose! This chocolaty side stays. Raisins and nuts are still there. After the first sip, the nose becomes even sweeter, fruity and chocolatier - just more intense. Leather is now also to be guessed.
    • Taste
Sparkling milk chocolate! Behind it a fruit mix of cherries, plums, dates and raisins. Oak and leather are added. Extremely full and creamy. In the second sip the musty-leathery increases. Trendy cherry?
    • Finish
Choco-cherry and leather remain, long finish.

  2. Maltkanzlei scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Makes you want to more. The price is ... but it takes some getting used to, as Couvreur is at least as creative as the products.
    • Nose
Very intense in the nose. Strong wine notes, also alcohol can be heard, which I feel pleasant considering the drinking strength. Could be a subtle sherrylagerung. Pleasantly sweet and fruity, caramelized fruit, apple slices and grapes, slightly liquorice in the background. Very well balanced.
    • Taste
Dark honey is my first association. Then very strong notes of wine and various spices, which I, however, since they seem rather restrained, need a moment to name them. Cloves or allspice, some cardamom, a very light sweet spiciness, which I most likely associate with nutmeg. The fruity sweetness is complemented by wood notes.18 years barrel storage left their mark. MET, that is, honey from the barrique is the taste.
    • Finish
Very long and again the honey-fruity mead association.
