A well-crafted whisky, surprising notes for a Springbank but nevertheless interesting. The chemical notes of soap and violet are not too disturbing. The whole stands well despite a nose very atypical, almost confusing.
    • Nose
A sensation of intense freshness, but also markers of youth: green wood, malt. The profile seems really special: it would look almost like agave-based spirits like tequila or mezcal. It is very sweet and lemon predominates. Despite the fact that this Springbank is a "peated" version (read Longrow between the lines), there is little smoke or peatiness. Soapy notes also appear. Then we go to a Lowland type profile: plant, flowers, licorice. Moreover, liquorice is the only note that reminds us that here we have to make a normally peated whisky ... Then, we see the sea, with pretty salty and iodized notes, the song of the seagulls ... I digress ... In any case, the nose very atypical for a Springbank.
    • Taste
Oh, they were not mistaken! This is a peaty whisky! Light notes of smoke, earth and licorice. Here we have a peat leaning more towards the vegetable than the grilled meat or the antiseptic. We always have this side salty, iodized, sweet, vegetal. The soap is a little too present for my taste, and the variety of the flower is precise: the violet! This is by no means disturbing. Some fruity notes too, mainly with pear. The alcohol is well integrated and the aromas quite accurate. With the opening, this Springbank becomes rounder, sweeter, more fruity and the plant is discreet. There is a bit of bitterness with notes of dark chocolate.
    • Finish
a little bitterness. Iodized fruits, liquorice, dark chocolate. The vegetal side is almost nonexistent and the aromatic persistence is more than correct.
