Whisky Reviews for Macallan Select Oak
9 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 80.96 points
Absolutely not impressed. Mass commercial product for the unpretentious consumer.
The apple theme dominates in all manifestations (both fresh, and baked, and in the form of juice, and in jam), grapes, alcoholic, an oven with apples.
The taste is simple "like three kopecks", grain and dry.
Short, dry, alcoholic, apple.
- chic nose, mix of barrels? or strictly bourbon? the taste is very watery, a couple of degrees would not hurt. dried aftertaste

Pleasant, uncomplicated whisky
Very sweet, with flavors of vanilla and plums.
Again very sweet and mild. Fruity and a slight spiciness.
Again the sweet plums in combination with oak seasoning. Becomes drier towards the end.
- This is really bad.
Add ice, bad too.
Add water, even worse.
Avoid at all cost.
- Meh. Not worth its price.
Light nose, hints of the sherry casks but very discrete. Oak, caramel, raisins. Not very complex.
Watery texture, I don't understand why they keep bottling at 40% abv. Quite nutty. Vanilla, dried fruits, but the fruits are overpowered by the nutty taste. Quite muted.
Medium short, oaky, with a lingering bitterness. Not great.
- It smells of wood and sherry. Not very good, but goes.
Something stands out, fermented fruit, pomace perhaps?
Something furry in the mouth, almost like sloe.
Something bitter, very spicy.
He does not convince me.
Since I had better of Macallan.
