This dram has a special meaning for me, and therefore will not just nose, taste, aftertaste and balance affect my rating.
First of all I will however make it clear that this dram is rather superb in my opinion.
The nose is out of this world. The sherry is from another time and you get that touch of a smokiness from the cask which is difficult to find in the sherry expressions of today. Furthermore it seems so sophisticated and well balanced without the cask being too dominating.
For me this special dram will get my highest vote as this is the last dram I shared with my best whisky friend. I have loved all the good times we have had and you have been the best friend one could wish for.

The nose is really fantastic and on  the palate it is pretty different - rather like one of the old dry Macallans like the 1972 18yo. The finish is a tad bitter but with a new fruitiness. All in all this is a great whisky!
    • Nose
Very fresh, rich and complex, a lot of toffee, dried fruits, raisins, but also some citrus fruits, oranges, oak wood, vanilla, menthol, tobacco, and even a little bit smoky - Superb!
    • Taste
Dry oak wood, really just a subtle sweetness, dark chocolate, coffee, touch of leather, tobacco, little smoky
    • Finish
Medium long, zesty, walnuts, some green fruits

Wood, toffee, dry raisins and a touch of vanilla. Very pleasant and actually pretty fresh and powerful given the age. This one reminds me very much on a Macallan 1972 18yo. Great whisky!
