Whisky with a nice balance between peat and fruitiness, very pleasant.
    • Nose
Civilized peat and smoke fragrance, nicely balanced with fruity notes, citrus, orange, vanilla as well. Padding rubber.
    • Taste
Licorice, Salmiak. Pepper, full taste. In addition to re-engineered peat and smoke also a clear fruity undertone, orange.
    • Finish
Light peppers still, long aftertaste. Some (peat) smoke and still fruity.

(Blind) Nose: lively, fruity, citrusy, very pleasant

Palate: fine and chiseled peat, fruits and a little farm, a little dry in the finish, but it's all good!

    Tasted blind.

    Color: Gold supported

Nose: We guess a pleasant nose behind alcohol vapors. Fine peat, wax, bitter orange, vanilla. Water brings out the minerality, but it is at the expense of gluttony.

Palate: Very powerful. Peat is more present than the nose, but remains delicate. Tincture of iodine, gentian, lemon, mineral notes. Greasy texture sticking well to the palate. It's great, yum!

Finish: Long, bitter and finely peaty.

Conclusion: Best without water despite a high alcohol content (> 55%).

    I really like.
    • Nose
Fresh, young and fiery. Fruit from the orchard, some green wood, a hint of dust. We also find leather and malt, cereals. Spices are a little more present at aeration. Despite this complexity, it's still fresh and easy. It begins well.
    • Taste
Round attack, fruity, almost oily and then a big kick of smoke and peat totally unexpected earthy.
    • Finish
      Extremely long and saline. Salivating.

    From Whiskyfun:

Bowmore 15 yo 1990/2005 (55.7%, Dewar Rattray, cask #260)  Colour: straw. Nose: we’re on another planet. Sharp, austere, almost discrete but very elegant, with quite some peat, paraffin, brownies, fresh walnuts… Notes of wax polish, mastic, fresh almonds, smoked tea, seawater… Very, very enjoyable even if a little Calvinistic. Mouth: powerful and compact, with a very bitter start but it’s exactly the kind of bitterness I like (on candied lemons and marzipan etc.) Hints of horseradish, smoked tea, strong liquorice, ‘cooked’ coffee… Gets more and more liquoricy with time, with something like ‘light’ pipe juice (only pipe smokers or ex-pipe smokers will understand, the others can thank God), fruitcake… Lots of presence indeed. I like this kind of whisky that’s really off the beaten tracks. Hints of rose jam – or gewürztraminer. The finish is quite long, at that, on ‘smoky’ marzipan and orange marmalade… Good, very good. 89 points.
