Whisky Reviews for Springbank 10-year-old

  1. Andytka3 scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

N- Blade-y sharp citrus breezing thru and sweeter than the 2016, more baked fruits with butter and orange cream. Layer of mineral nuance that carry along salts and tins. Simple, direct and quintessential Springbank. (92/23)

P- Buttery, fat and rounded ripe fruits arrested by spicy and dry liquorice drops. Dried fruits and pears swim on the bed of rounded sweet oak phenol. (91/22)

F- Medium long, liquorice, oily, touch of tannin and tarry. (90/22)

B/B- 91/22, not multi-complex nor high profile. It just simply quality.

Weighted Rate- 90pt, +1 for excellent value.

  2. Defeatless scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Nose: There is a little peat burst in here, which is quite a bit of a recent thing. For the rest there is a lot of hardy notes, but also wood and vanilla. It smells quite a bit older than the 10 years on the bottle. There are flowers and forest notes in the nose.

Taste: Sweet and sour, little 'dirty' notes. An bitterness as in Amaretto. And the classic bourbonbarrel influences are here too: vanilla, honey and oak. Very well balanced.

    Body: full and oily!

Finish: medium-long. Vanilla, oak, honey, lavender, again the bitterness.

    Price: Very reasonable

    Presentation: Sober but decent.

Comments: There seems to be more peat in the recent versions of Springbank.
