  1. St. Pauli Plus scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

An incredible (peerless) nose, absolutely fabulous. The rest is outstanding too, mind you. The palate ia still nicely fruity. It is perfectly normal that the finish is somewhat drying, after so long time in a cask.
    • Nose
Quite intense and complex. There are several layers of malt in there: it's this slightly polished/waxed side, with honey, but also a dusty and husky side. Next, it is herbal, with grass and eucalyptus, it has ample wood influence (vanilla, polished oak). The main part is a very fruity kick, of green apples, oranges, but also dried apricot, peach, banana and pineapple. At the end, there is a slight earthy note of tobacco.

After a while, the honeyed malty nose and the tropical fruit are dominant.
    • Taste
Oily, full-bodied. It's fruity, earthy and certainly spicy. Again, full of fresh and tropical fruit, unsmoked cigars in their box, and a good amount of clove and pepper.
    • Finish
Medium, slightly drying, quite spicy and earthy. The pepper and clove take over (was to be expected with a 41 year old whisky), along with licorice root, tobacco, malt, a trace of marzipan, and orange zest.
