Whisky Reviews for Royal Wedding Commemorative Miniature 1981

  1. WhiskyLovingPianist did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

N: Almost identical to a 1980’s Dimple i tried before and generally rather generic. Theres a nice interplay between the sweet and sour with some clotted cream mixing nicely with the fusty caramel. After some time: glacier cherries, sour vanilla milk, sweet raspberry sauce, fusty nutty maltiness.
T: This is a talker. Strong arrival showing some good age and control. Its sweet and oaky with chilli flakes but well tempered throughout, but its not bland, far from it. Theres lots to chew on and its sustaining. Classic all bourbon malt here with the obligatory vanillas on show.
F: The oak levels are continually impressive and the spirit is communicative too, allowing a playful and more than adequate medium finish.
C: Goodness knows whats in this blend but its a simple, well blended sipper. Nice mouthfeel with some character - i know, very vague,….

    Scores a C
