I was disappointed, for 15 years old little power and the rum character barely noticeable. Overall, a very fine, mild malt.
For then 100 € already too expensive the one called up today certainly not worth it.

    - an ultimate great Irish whisky
    - a damn good rum barrel storage
    - at that time still worth about 100 € each
    - it's worth trying it out!
    • Nose
typical Irish smell combined with distinct rum aromas, sweetness, malty, toffee
    • Taste
Silky smooth start, harmonious, round, lots of rum taste, malty, very rich and complex
    • Finish
medium-long finish; Rum sounds like a hell of a long time

the (presumable) fruity distillery aromas are very beautiful and intense. The cumin surprises on the palate. However, the barrels used have probably been quite exhausted. At any rate, the fifteen years are not reflected in relevant oak notes and / or bitterness. And also Rumeinflüsse one looks in vain.
    • Nose
sweet tropical fruit (passion fruit), subtly pungent alcohol, little wood
    • Taste
Caraway and other spices, passion fruit, alcohol just fine,
    • Finish
Medium long again with the tropical fruits and berries, and finally oak. Virtually zero bitterness.

For me, the weakest of the series so far, albeit far from a bad whisky
    • Nose
fresh and grassy, lighter body. At first does not really close to Rumfass. Sparkling pineapple, not yet quite ripe papaya and a fresh wood note tend then rather in the direction. I miss something of the dark sugar ..
    • Taste
a full basket of fruit, wonderfully creamy. Banana, honey melon, again the pineapple (makes it tingle) and canned peach. However, the typical meadow note of Teeling does not quite harmonize with this and immediately produces a slight grapefruit bitterness.
    • Finish
In the finish extremely spicy, almost spicy wood (ginger and pepper), which prevents the impression of a rounded malts.

In the nose quite promising and pleasant this Teeling fails to my surprise in the taste on the whole line. As a nightcap after the meal maybe still drinkable, but not to enjoy!
    Notes dated 29.08.2017 => 65/100
    • Nose
Fresh and slightly alcoholic at first. Somehow also typically Irish. Then Rumrosienen arrive in the nose and a strong honey note makes its way navj front, accompanied by caramel (fudge) and a subtle thymi note. He is always sweeter.
    • Taste
Here unfortunately only burning alcohol with taste of cheap rum. In addition very bitter.
    • Finish
long, burning and bitter ... A throat cleaner!

    • Taste
Herbaceous and vanilla. Matches the nose.
    • Finish
      Soft creamy finish.

Nothing fits together for me. I like interesting whiskys with nooks and crannies and crazy taste combinations, I also like a rum (also here rather unusual / interesting than round-sweet), but rum whiskys usually do not work for me, and this is particularly wrong. Somehow the flavors could have made an interesting mix (apart from the nose-wit at the beginning), but the puzzle pieces do not suit me, completely independent of the price. Probably it should be like this, but not my taste. (But the presentation is great! ;-))
    • Nose
Strange ... so there's a nice, varied fruitiness, but also something of cheap schnapps ... no direct rum notes, more like a mixture of cheap gin, tequila and white rum for drinking mixes. OK, that flies nice after 5-10 minutes, then strong pineapple, banana, cinnamon, some fresh sawdust, pleasant. So, let go, wait!
    • Taste
Again tropical fruits, pineapple, grapefruit, lime, passion fruit, I like otherwise, but here this green, bitter side outweighs, seems a little unripe ... in the background chocolate, some pepper, burnt sugar, a weird-bitter rum note, in the station wagon it reminds a bit of tree needles, and something burned ...
    • Finish
medium to long, dark chocolate, brown sugar, but again this immature green and bitter fruity note

    Grapefruit

To celebrate the opening of the new Teeling Distillery in the heart of Dublin, the owners released a 15 Year Old Irish whisky, that was put to sleep on rum casks in 1999. We still have to wait a little longer on their own production, so this Revival is from older stocks from Cooley.

Very fruity nose on mostly unripe banana and pineapple, with a hint of mango and guava. Mildly floral. Coconut kicks in with a vengeance, making it very sweet, followed by grapefruit. Some ginger and a pinch of salt.

You can almost call it tropical on the palate. All kinds of yellow fruit, but with a bitterness from both the oak and from pink grapefruit. It is a lot more spicy than you would expect after the soft nose. Again ginger, but mostly pepper now. A bit waxy, which I find very pleasant.

The finish is fairly long, but the oak does become very loud now. Not that I mind.

Wonderful Irish whisky, but just a tad too expensive to my taste. Almost 95 EUR. The bottle does stand out in the cabinet, that is for sure.

Sweet and more and more greedy on vanilla, the influence of rum casks is minimal at this stage. A little toffee, more and more in fact, it lacks relief. On the palate, sweet and fluid, the rum casks strongly mark the whisky by giving it a syrupy side without spices that tends to unbalance the whole. In swallowing, some exotic fruits, vanilla and beautiful length, this is where he is the best.

    Enthusiasm 3/5

Teeling is now officially back on the Irish whisky landscape, and so is Dublin! In order to celebrate this special occasion, they released a whisky entirely matured in ex-rum barrels.

    Oxidation definitely does him good.
    • Nose
Pineapple, green apples, papaya, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon peel / orange peel which has been freshly peeled and the acid comes out,
    • Taste
Sweet, subtle rum sweetness, melon, light bitterness, almonds, pineapple, mango, honeydew melon, vanilla, light oak
    • Finish
The rum sweetness and a tropical fruit mix remain in the mouth

Sample provided by Teeling Whisky for a tweettasting hosted by The Whisky Wire.

Nose: Alcohol burst at first, but that quickly fades away. Candy syrup, a lot of sugar. Tropical fruit, some cinnamon, almost like a fruity stew. after a while the vanilla comes in, with some apples and orange zest.

Nice subtle influence of the ex-rum cask, it's not "in your face rum".

Great nose, that changes quite a bit over time.

Taste: a bit of a sharp arrival, followed again by the Sugar Syrup, but not overly sweet and balanced out with a bit of salt. after the somewhat sharp arrival, the palate is very 'smooth'. must be the Irish talking there.

Finish: The finish picks it up again with some spicy oak. it's long and warming.

Overall: Sweet bottle of 'Irish Rum' Filled with tropical fruits that finish in long gently spiced oak.

A light, fruity (loads of european and tropical fruits), slightly sweet (demerara sugar, baked apples) dram with an undeniable, yet not overdone rum influence. A carribbean summer dram!
