  1. MaltMartin Plus scored this whisky 96 points Connoisseur

This pre-war Mortlach is gorgeous nectar. Amazingly complex for 40% ABV. Not taken over by the wood at all after 50 years in the cask.
    • Nose
The nose starts astringent with zesty lemon and orange peel. After a while more dusty fruity sweetness of gooseberries and grapefruit. Also banana, mango and lychee like in the best expressions of Benriach 1976. Nettle and some tobacco at the background.
    • Taste
Quite creamy with a full mouth texture. Cherries, redberries jam and buttery oak are very well integrated. Tangerines and orange marmelade as well. Vanilla fudge and clover honey. Later on some subtle notes of burnt cedar oak and pine wood.
    • Finish
Long and sweet. Spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. A little eucalyptus. Liquorice at the end. It''s all very well balanced.
