    A superb copper color.

A nose of nuts in syrup, marzipan, candy sugar. Fruit in jam.

On the palate it is syrupy, a honeyed nut. A vanilla, chocolate side. Nice consistency on the palate with stewed fruits, red fruits and exotic fruits, caramelized, raisins. Little citrus side, grapefruit.

A warm finish, orange fruit paste, with a hint of white pepper.

Nice discovery, a rather "dynamic" Arran with a very fine juice and full of taste.

Awesome Arran. I love it. Reminds me of the 18-yo Arran 1996 JW.
    • Nose
Old, dust covered overripe red fruit, marzipan, dark sugar, some motor oil, some old leather Chesterfield seat
    • Taste
Sweet, ripe red fruits exploding in your mouth, bringing dark sugar coated waves of wood chips, some mint, leather,
    • Finish
Overripe red fruit sprinkled with mint dies slowly on the tongue. Some wood, No bitter, slightly drying.

Tasted it blind during PO2017 (june 2017)
    • Nose
Apples, oranges, spices, nutmeg, cloves, cake, lime, lemon grass, ginger and some leather, dried fruits, marzipan and a bit musty
    • Taste
Vanilla, citric, chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, a little pepper and a sulphuric note
    • Finish
Creamy, vanilla, grapefruit, honey, some woody notes and then something that reminds me of an campfire

Tasted this blind. Never guessed this was an Arran, seemed like a heavy sherried Highlander to me (Glenfarclas, Ben Nevis or Aberlour). I took a gamble with Glenfarclas.

Good whisky but the nose lets it down a lot.
    • Nose
Glue, just glue. Very sharp, hits right in the face. Not my kind of nose, hardly anything to get here but hints of red fruits, black currants. Moldy in the end. This sure is a sherried whisky, but misses a lot on the nose.
    • Taste
Sherry notes, overwhelmingly so. Raisins, currants, leather, raspberry, blackberry, lime zest, caramel and a hint of vanilla.
    • Finish
White pepper, acids (bile-like), raspberry, sweet strawberry bubblegum, metallic. Long finish.

Great Arran! Tasted during a blind tasting competition in May/June 2017.
    • Nose
Leathery, tobacco, red fruit (tutti fruity - but more drying than sweet), als custard and buttery tones, silage grass, and a bit soury vomit (but not in a bad way - yes, that's possible!).
    • Taste
Nice balanced sherry tones. Cherries (mon cherí bonbons), very creamy mouthfeel. Anise, cinnamon, black pepper, red grapes, raisins, dates.
    • Finish
Prickly at the tip of the tongue, black pepper, tannins - slightly drying. Hint of sulphur. Blackberries.

    • Nose
Apple, rose hip, goji berry, almond chips, plum, candied cherry, marzipan, raisin and malt. With water first a little honey and lemon, but then cardboard and a whiff of sulphur.
    • Taste
Apple, caramel, raisin, cherry, marzipan, plum and herbs. Again a little honey when diluted, as well as pastry, orange and a little sulphur.
    • Finish
Initially apple, caramel, raisin, cherry and almond. But pretty quickly that touch of sulphur turns bad: Musty chestnut and rubber.

Balance is the keyword here. Everything just seems to work and the flavors and aromas are really well integrated.
    • Nose
Fresh pine needles and tree bark, immediately followed by tropical fruit like peaches and nectarines. It is lovely subtle, but also has a thick sweet and syrupy edge.
    • Taste
Star anise and cloves, with thick molasses and dried berries. Polished leather, dusty books. The sherry influence is in great balance with the spirit.
    • Finish
      Sweet cherries, pears, apple juice.

n:coastal, not heavy sherry notes, dusty old books
m:nice sherry profile with ripe - dried fruits plus old books plus some fine leather plus a nice subtle coastality
    f:long,with nice sweetness and complexity

the kind of sherry maturation profile that I love... the sherry influence is in perfect balance with the spirit's character....
